Apartment mess lands Old Town man in jail

A local man was arrested this week on two counts of criminal mischief after Old Town police stopped by a Brunswick Street apartment and found a mess.

Aaron Charles Sapiel, 24, is accused of damaging some of his former girlfriend’s personal belongings, throwing some of her things around the apartment and damaging the rental unit itself, according to Sgt. Travis Roy of the Old Town Police Department.

Sgt. Mike Hashey and Officer Joshua Loring went to the apartment Monday to accompany the former girlfriend’s father, who wanted to retrieve her belongings, Roy said.

When they arrived, they found the former girlfriend’s bicycle damaged, broken railings, doors and furnishings, and household items and her clothes strewn around the apartment, Roy said.

Roy said that Sapiel was jailed and has since been released on bail. He is scheduled to appear in court next month. (Dawn Gagnon, BDN)
