Veilleux goal lifts Sabers to overtime win vs. Knights

BANGOR – Dominique Veilleux scored the winning goal 2:30 into overtime off an Alex Doten assist to lead Calvary Chapel to a 3-2 boys soccer victory over Highview Christian at University College on Monday.

Stephen Berenyi had two second-half goals for the 6-6-2 Sabers of Orrington. Veilleux also recorded an assist. Devon Warman saved three of seven shots.

Ryosuke Yamada and Alexander Papkov scored in the second half for the 9-3 Knights of Charleston. Nathan Chandler provided an assist. Stefan Rowe stopped 17 of 35 shots.

Bangor Chr. 3, DI-Stonington 0

At Bangor, Brett Bradford scored two goals as Bangor Christian shut down Deer Isle-Stonington.

Bradley Wilcox scored the other goal for the 10-3-1 Patriots. Brandon Wilcox provided two assists and Matt Swanson recorded an assist. Tyler Alexander saved all three shots.

Eben Powers turned away nine of 13 shots for the 6-7-1 Mariners.

Girls soccer

Bangor Chr. 2, DI-Stonington 0

At Bangor, Demelza Ramirez scored both goals in the first half as Bangor Christian shut out Deer Isle-Stonington.

Kelly Robinson and Abby Groskie had assists for the 6-7-1 Patriots. Moriah Bach and Abbie Vicnaire combined to save 10 of 14 shots.

Anika Powers and Britnie Jones combined for 10 saves off 22 shots for the 3-9-2 Mariners.

Nokomis 3, Skowhegan 1

At Newport, Mary Badeen scored a goal and assisted another as Nokomis prevailed.

Becky Wolinski and Lindsey Bailey added goals for 2-11 Nokomis. Hayley Hayden provided an assist. Laura Lyford saved nine of 10 shots.

Megan Thompson scored an unassisted goal in the first half for 3-11 Skowhegan. Samantha Gray turned away 17 of 20 shots.

GSA 1, Ellsworth 1 (2OT)

At Blue Hill, Hannah Van der Eb of George Stevens Academy and Ellsworth’s Angie Tucker didn’t allow a goal through two overtimes.

Emily Lyons scored the tying goal 23:19 into the second half for 10-2-2 Ellsworth. Tucker stopped six of eight shots.

Emily Peake scored the first goal off a corner kick 19:17 into the first half for 10-2-2 George Stevens. Van der Eb saved six of seven shots.

JV: Ellsworth 1-0

Presque Isle 6, Fort Kent 1

At Presque Isle, senior Kayla Legassie extended her school record of goals to 66 with three goals as Presque Isle beat Fort Kent.

Presque Isle senior Sarah Porter also extended her school record. She had two assists for a career total of 30.

Chelsea Nickerson added two goals for the 13-1 Wildcats and Kayla Richards scored a goal. Kellsey Park saved three of seven shots.

Shelby Tagget scored an unassisted goal in the second half for 9-4-1 Fort Kent. Karissa Pelletier stopped 16 of 23 shots.
