Joyce scores two goals, Mariners edge Royals

DEER ISLE – Goalkeeper Eben Powers was moved to forward with three minutes to play and set up Nathan Joyce’s game-winner with 51 seconds remaining Tuesday to lift Deer Isle-Stonington to a 2-1 boys soccer victory over Jonesport-Beals.

Joyce scored a first-half goal off a Blake Bartlett assist for 5-3-1 Deer Isle-Stonington. Powers and Joe Carter combined to make 15 saves on 16 shots.

Zack Fenton scored the tying goal at 19:40 of the first half for 0-10 Jonesport-Beals. Cody Thistlewood made 22 saves on 29 shots.

Calais 5, Narraguagus 0

At Calais, Ben Pagels scored three goals to propel the Blue Devils to victory.

Steven Rogers and Jeff Johnston scored one goal each for 7-3-1 Calais. Jordan Leeman made 11 saves on 13 shots to register the shutout.

Kameron Jordan came up with 11 saves on 18 shots for 2-8 Narraguagus of Harrington.

Bangor 14, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Nick George scored three goals and assisted two others as Bangor shut out Nokomis.

Phil Frost, Johnny Warren and Luke Hettermann scored two goals apiece for the 9-0-1 Rams. Cody Cormier, Zane Gray, Clark Noonan, Mack Susi and Colby Treadwell netted one eachg. Jacques Larochelle and Brandon Landry each provided two assists. Alan Reese made two saves on two shots.

Justin Amoroso stopped 17 of 32 shots for the 0-11 Warriors.

JV: Bangor 5-0

Penobscot Valley 1, Penquis 0

At Howland, Charlie Gardner scored the game-winner with 8:42 left in regulation off a header from 10 yards out as Penobscot Valley beat Penquis of Milo.

Jacob Jones saved nine of 11 shots for 7-2-2 Penobscot Valley.

Richie Russell turned away 12 of 17 shots for the 2-8-1 Patriots.

Girls soccer

Ellsworth 4, Bucksport 2

At Ellsworth, Lauren Peer scored two goals off direct kicks as Ellsworth beat Bucksport.

Maggie Harding and Makenzie Manheim scored for the 8-2-1 Eagles. Angie Tucker saved three of five shots.

Sadie Wight and India Stewart scored goals for 0-9-1 Bucksport. Carrie Daigle turned away 13 of 18 shots.

Searsport 5, Bangor Christian 3

At Searsport, Sarah Bradshaw scored three times as Searsport improved to 7-1-1.

Tianna Faunce had a goal and an assist for the winners and Shawna Dakin had the other goal. Olivia Quigley picked up two assists and Paige Bradshaw finished with five saves on 12 shots.

Whitney Holmes, Kelly Robinson and Grace Poulin (penalty kick) scored for 3-4-1 Bangor Christian and Moriah Bach made 12 saves on 31 shots.

So. Aroostook 13, East Grand 0

At Danforth, Elizabeth Goodall had a hat trick as Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook shut out East Grand.

Janel Rockwell, Emma Senzek and Brittany Charette scored two goals apiece for 10-1-1 Southern Aroostook. Evangeline Goodall, Rochelle Nadeau, Jasmine Rockwell and Lauren McGary also scored. Emily Cummings stopped one of two shots.

Kaitlyn Beaudoin, Jen Armstrong and Kelsey Daoust combined to save eight of 21 shots for 1-10 East Grand.

Penobscot Valley 2, Piscataquis 0

At Guilford, Meghan King scored a first-half goal off a Jordan Faloon assist to lead Penobscot Valley of Howland past Piscataquis.

Katie Whitten added an insurance goal in the second half for the 6-2-1 Howlers. Casey McCloskey turned away 10 of 11 shots.

Julia Shaffer saved 20 of 24 shots for 2-6-2 Piscataquis.

Dexter 3, Penquis 2

At Dexter, Sara Domenech scored the winner off an Alexis Mitchell assist with 2:24 remaining in the second half to lead Dexter to victory over Penquis of Milo.

Mitchell scored in the first half with an assist from Sarah Murray for the 4-5-1 Tigers. Miranda Gove assisted Megan Collopy’s second-half goal. Maicee Gustin saved five of 10 shots.

Sadie Zambrano and Brooke McLaughlin scored for 1-8-1 Penquis. Lindsey Rideout assisted Zambrano’s first-half goal. Erica Lyford and Kristyn Chapman combined for 23 saves on 31 shots.

Foxcroft 2, Hermon 2 (2OT)

At Dover-Foxcroft, Sarah Whittemore of Foxcroft Academy and Sarah Bishop of Hermon didn’t allow a goal through two overtimes.

Shee-Ann Sergeant scored the tying goal midway through the second half off a Megan Taylor assist for the 5-5-1 Ponies. Paige Hobbs scored in the first half. Whittemore saved five of nine shots.

Lindsey Allen and Kasey Fratini scored first-half goals for 3-8-1 Hermon. Bishop stopped 19 of 33 shots.

Field hockey

Camden Hills 1, Belfast 0

At Rockport, Maci Heal scored the winner with 10 seconds remaining in the first half to give Camden Hills the win over Belfast.

Sarah Nason made three saves on three shots for 5-5-1 Camden Hills.

Paxton Mohney turned away four of five shots for the 8-3 Lions.

Nokomis 1, Mount View 0

At Thorndike, Sabrina Vaillancourt scored the winner off a Alison Berg assist with 5:04 left in the second half to lift Nokomis of Newport over Mount View.

Maria Adams saved all six shots for 9-1-2 Nokomis.

Juni Garvin turned away nine of 10 shots for the 7-4 Mustangs.
