Boomer, James spark Dragons Woodland boys top Machias 3-1

MACHIAS – Scott Boomer broke a 1-1 tie, scoring off a Chad James assist 5:18 into the second half to lead Woodland to a 3-1 schoolboy soccer victory over Machias Friday.

Brad Arthers scored an insurance goal with an assist from Boomer for the 5-3 Dragons. James had a first-half goal. Todd Wormell turned away 14 of 19 shots.

Raymond Smith scored an unassisted goal late in the first half for 5-2 Machias. Mike Jenkins made 13 saves on 19 shots.

Greenville 2, Vinalhaven 0

At Greenville, Evan Bickford scored two first-half goals as Greenville shut out Vinalhaven.

Tony DiAngelo and Richie Chilson provided assists for 4-1 Greenville. Alex Jardine made 22 saves on 24 shots.

Nathan Hopkins turned away 22 of 26 shots for 5-2 Vinalhaven.

Old Town 1, Bucksport 1 (2OT)

At Old Town, Lee Larry of Old Town and Bucksport’s Joe Goodin didn’t allow a goal through two overtimes.

Old Town’s Chad Paradis scored the tying goal midway through the second half off a Janis Schaefer assist. Larry stopped 10 of 11 shots for the 5-2-2 Coyotes.

Jordan Trasko scored an unassisted goal in the first half for 2-5-1 Bucksport. Goodin made 24 saves on 25 shots.

JV: Bucksport 4-2

Highview Chr. 5, East Grand 2

At Danforth, Stefan Rowe scored three goals and assisted on another to power Highview Christian Academy of Charleston to victory.

Ryosuka Yamada tallied two goals for the 4-2 Knights, while Jeffrey Niles posted two assists. Wesley Jones made 12 saves on 18 shots.

Abe Brittain and Andrew Gilman scored one goal each to lead 0-6 East Grand. David Cropley made eight saves on 15 shots.

Girls soccer

East Grand 3, Highview Chr. 1

At Danforth, Kelsey Daoust scored one goal and set up another to propel the Vikings to their first victory of the season.

Kaitlyn Beaudoin and Shaunna Beaudoin each provided a goal for 1-7 East Grand. Courtney Lloyd made 10 saves on 11 shots.

Sheila Francis scored the goal for 0-3-1 Highview Christian Academy of Charleston. Anita Allard made 20 saves on 23 shots.

Greenville 0, Vinalhaven 0 (2OT)

At Greenville, Sidney Richardson of Greenville and Vinalhaven’s Alex Slivinksy didn’t allow a goal through regulation and two overtimes.

Richardson turned away seven of eight shots for 1-0-4 Greenville.

Slivinksy stopped 20 of 42 shots for 3-2-3 Vinalhaven.

Old Town 6, Bucksport 1

At Old Town, Katie Deshane knocked in three goals and assisted on another as Old Town cruised to its eighth victory.

Erin St. Peter headed home a goal, while Samantha McLaughlin added a goal plus an assist and Megan Cousins a goal for the 8-1 Coyotes. Hannah Berry, Hilary Campbell and Trisha Smart added assists. Annie Cashon had four saves on nine shots.

Jaimie Lanpher scored off an India Stewart pass for 0-6-1 Bucksport. Cassie Daigle and Bailey Blair teamed up for six saves on 18 shots.
