Bissell carries Witches by Mount Ararat for 2nd win MDI edges Hampden; Foxcroft cruises past Orono

TOPSHAM – Billy Bissell rushed for 85 yards and scored two touchdowns, one on the ground and one through the air, as Brewer High beat Mount Ararat 24-13 in Class A football action Friday night.

Bissell opened the scoring with a 50-yard TD run in the first quarter and caught a 14-yard TD pass from Koby Hutchins in the second.

Jamie Williamson returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown, Pat McEwen ran for 64 yards on 12 carries while Dom Drake recorded an interception.

Jon Thomas had 12 tackles and Matt Junkins had six tackles and a sack for the Witches.

Drew Marshall compiled 130 yards on 11 carries and scored on TD runs of 83 and 24 yards for the Eagles.

MDI 13, Hampden 12

At Bar Harbor, Tyler Crawford passed for two touchdowns as Mount Desert Island hung on for a Pine Tree Conference Class B victory.

Crawford completed eight of nine passes for 191 yards and rushed eight times for 89 yards to lead the Trojans.

Jasper Cousins caught seven passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. Nolan Hall caught a 68-yard pass from Crawford for a first-quarter score.

Camden Fernald led MDI’s defense with nine tackles.

Nolan Turner rushed 19 times for 115 yards and scored a first-quarter touchdown for Hampden Academy.

Jonathan Haws brought the Broncos within a point of MDI with a 1-yard TD run in the third quarter, but Hampden failed to convert the two-point conversion rush and never scored again.

The Trojans totaled 416 yards of offense with 225 yards rushing and 191 passing.

Hampden had 223 offensive yards with 199 yards rushing and 24 passing.

Bucksport 34, Rockland 6

At Rockland, Nate Warren posted four touchdown runs of 37 yards and longer in the first half to power the Golden Bucks past the Tigers.

Warren opened the scoring with a 37-yard TD run in the first quarter, and Billy Comtis kicked the extra point.

Warren added a 46-yarder on the first play of the second quarter and followed that with a 56-yard TD run five minutes later. He put up his final TD run, a 65-yarder, with 4:20 to go before halftime with Alex Giosia rushing for the two-point conversion.

Nick Baudanza caught a 30-yard TD pass from Tigers quaterback Dylan Meklin with 1:45 left in the first half.

Giosia added a 3-yard TD run with 1:19 to go in the game and Comptis registered his second PAT kick to complete the scoring in the rain-soaked game.

Warren finished with 27 carries for 346 yards for the Bucks, who had 412 yards of total offense, all on the ground. Defensive back Cam Wentworth intercepted three passes and recovered a fumble.

Meklin was 13 for 27 passing for 102 yards, with Baudanza catching four for 47 yards and the TD and David McGuire caught four for 43 yards. Sam Weiss carried 21 times for 116 yards.

Foxcroft 47, Orono 20

At Dover-Foxcroft, Ian Champeon rushed for three touchdowns and caught two more as Foxcroft Academy defeated Orono.

Champeon rushed 14 times for 115 yards for the Ponies and Ryan Stroud completed five of nine passes for 110 yards and three touchdowns.

Foxcroft’s Josiah Richard caught a 55-yard scoring pass from Stroud and Robby Harmon added a 17-yard TD run.

Stetson Bowden ran for 141 yards on 10 carries as the Ponies totaled 471 yards of offense.

Blaine Silk led Orono with 128 yards rushing on 12 carries. He also scored a touchdown.

Kash Keezer completed an 8-yard TD pass to Marcus Leek and rushed for a score in the fourth quarter.

Orono had 322 offensive yards.
