Thomas lifts Witches past Skowhegan 7-1

SKOWHEGAN – Luke Thomas scored two goals and notched an assist to lead the Brewer Witches to a 7-1 schoolboy soccer victory over the Skowhegan Indians Thursday.

Tyler Bessette had a goal and an assist for the 2-4-1 Witches. Evan Nadeau, Jacob O’Donnell, Ray Bessette, and Ryan Adams each scored one goal. Brian Kearns made six saves on 11 shots.

Ben Quirion scored the lone goal for the 0-7 Indians. Ryan Kenniston made eight saves on 19 shots.

JV: Brewer 7-0

Mount View 2, Rockland 1

At Rockland, Kiel Lemieux scored off a Dylan Keller assist at 34:45 in the second half to break the 1-1 tie and lead Mount View of Thorndike past Rockland Wednesday.

Justin Pierel scored a first-half goal for 2-4 Mount View. Nick Knight and Zack Babin combined for 12 saves on 16 shots.

Mike Norman turned away four of 11 shots for 2-4-1 Rockland.

Orono 12, Searsport 0

At Orono, Ian Staples scored four goals and assisted another as Orono rolled.

Sean Kilpatrick had three goals and an assist for 5-2 Orono. Brandon Paul added two goals and two assists and Chris Johnson had a goal and an assist. Gracen Malave and Nick Dimoulas scored goals. Nick Peterson and Lee Hecker each provided two assists. Jake Stoddard had an assist and Kerry Eaton turned away all three shots.

Dan Peach saved 13 of 25 shots for 1-6 Searsport.

Bangor 1, Mt. Blue 0

At Farmington, Nick George scored the winner with an assist from Cody Cormier at 33:10 into the first half as Bangor defeated Mt. Blue.

Bud Angst stopped both shots for the 7-0 Rams. Devin Zamboni saved 13 of 20 shots for 4-2-1 Mt. Blue.

Hampden 6, Nokomis 0

At Hampden, Ricardo Delima scored two goals and Hampden prevailed.

Abdulah Alkhyatt had a goal and an assist for the Broncos. Nate Clark, Brad Dolan and Matt Toothaker also scored goals. Grant Aylward assisted two goals and Jade Cousens provided an assist. Brad Melanson didn’t face a shot.

Tyler Wintle saved four of 30 shots for Nokomis.

Bangor Chr. 3, Schenck 2

At Bangor, Nate Kutz scored the winner on a direct kick with 5:05 remaining in regulation as Bangor Christian beat Schenck of East Millinocket.

Brandon Wilcox and Bradley Wilcox also scored for the 5-2 Patriots. Brett Bradford provided an assist as Tyler Alexander stopped six of 12 shots.

Aaron Hutchins had a goal and an assist for the 1-6-1 Wolverines. Dylan McLaughlin also scored. Ryan Thompson turned away 10 of 19 shots.

Mount View 1, MCI 0

At Thorndike, Justin Pierel scored at 30:07 in the first half to lift the Mustangs by the Maine Central Institute Huskies of Pittsfield.

Zach Babin made 13 saves on 16 shots for the 3-4 winners. For 0-6-1 MCI, Casey Edgerton made 11 saves on 24 shots.

Girls soccer

Presque Isle 2, John Bapst 1

At Bangor, Kayla Legassie and Abbie LaPointe scored first-half goals to lead Presque Isle to victory over John Bapst.

Kelsey Park turned away 11 of 14 shots for 6-1 Presque Isle.

Kate Gerrow scored off a Kris Gerrow assist with eight minutes remaining in the first half to bring 4-3 John Bapst within a goal. Laura Jordan made 14 saves on 16 shots.

Penobscot Valley 3, Central 2

At Corinth, Morgan Rancourt scored the winner with 2:03 left in regulation to lift Penobscot Valley of Howland.

Jordan Leveille tied it at 2-2 10 minutes into the second half for the 4-2-1 Howlers. Molly Thompson scored in the first half. Casey McCloskey saved 20 of 27 shots.

Michelle Ferrie scored just 37 seconds into the game for 1-7 Central. Brianna Speed scored off a Ferrie assist six minutes into the first. Shari Shina stopped 11 of 15 shots.

Schenck 1, Bangor Christian 0

At East Millinocket, Karlie Michaud scored the winning goal with an assist from Angelica Deloge with 26:22 left in the first half to lead Schenck past Bangor Christian.

Kira Burleigh saved 20 of 22 shots for 2-6 Schenck.

Moriah Bach turned away 12 of 17 shots for 3-3-1 Bangor Christian.

Hampden 5, Nokomis 1

At Newport, Michaela Stephenson had three goals to lead Hampden.

Ashley Robinson had a goal and two assists, Abby Neill two assists and Kate Chambers a goal for the 4-3 Broncos. Julia Snyder had four saves on five shots.

Lindsey Bailey scored for 0-7 Nokomis while Laura Lyford saved 13 of 18 shots.

Skowhegan 1, Brewer 0

At Brewer, Whitney Jones scored an unassisted goal 28 minutes into the second half as Skowhegan beat Brewer.

Samantha Gray saved all 23 shots for 2-5 Skowhegan.

Melanie Junkins turned away 10 of 11 shots for 1-6 Brewer.

JV: Skowhegan 1-0

Penquis 2, Piscataquis 2 (2OT)

At Milo, Erica Lyford converted a second-half penalty kick to tie it for the Patriots.

Sadie Zambrano added a goal for 1-6-1 Penquis while Lyford had 24 saves on 2 shots.

Cassie Tardiff and Connie Glynn scored goals for 1-6-2 Piscataquis of Guilford. Julia Shaffer stopped 18 of 23 shots.

Old Town 3, MDI 0

At Bar Harbor, Annie Cashon recorded 11 saves on 18 shots as Old Town rolled.

Samantha McLaughlin scored off a Katie Deshane assist for the 7-1 Coyotes while Trisha Smart and Erin St. Peter added unassisted goals.

Elizabeth Sargent saved six of 12 shots for 2-5 MDI.

Field hockey

John Bapst 3, Mattanawcook 0

At Lincoln, Emily Tilton knocked in two goals and Bri Huckestein added the other as John Bapst of Bangor prevailed.

Shannon O’Connor and Jessica Stewart notched assists for the 3-4-1 Crusaders. Megan Smith saved nine of 11 shots.

Vinni Nesin and Colleen Albert teamed up for 12 saves on 19 shots for 3-5 Mattanawcook.
