Deans, Tyler pace UMF by Thomas

FARMINGTON – Emma Deans scored three goals and Andrea Tyler assisted on all three as they led the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers to an 8-0 defeat of Thomas College of Waterville in college field hockey action Wednesday.

Elyse Cole and Ashley Wentworth each had two goals for the 3-3 Beavers. Alyssa St. Pierre scored the other goal. Sarah Brown made two saves on five shots.

For the 1-5 Terriers, Megan Denby made 12 saves on 19 shots.

Saint Joseph’s 9, Wheelock 1

At Boston, Gina Gaetani scored three goals and assisted on one to power the Monks to victory.

Julia Ostrowski contributed two goals and two assists and Kayla Nowell posted a goal and four assists for 5-1 Saint Joseph’s of Standish. Jill Chaffee, Sarah Bartell and Amanda Sebastio chipped in with a goal apiece. Meaghan Johnson made one save on three shots.

Meredith Race piled up 23 saves on 41 shots for 1-7 Wheelock.

Women’s soccer

Thomas 7, UM-Augusta 0

At Waterville, Jamie Lockett, Terissa Ridge and Marisa Pickowicz each scored two goals to lead the Thomas College Terriers past the University of Maine-Augusta.

Victoria Devonshire added the seventh goal for the 3-4-1 Terriers. Lindsay Gove made eight saves to notch her third shutout this season.

Erin Leary made five saves on 12 shots for the 1-3 Rebels.

Bowdoin 3, Southern Maine 0

At Gorham, Rebecca Silva scored one goal and assisted on Tiernan Cutler’s tally to lead Bowdoin of Brunswick to the win.

Dana Riker added a goal for the 2-1-2 Polar Bears. Kelly Thomas had one save on four shots.

Alison Bradley stopped 14 of 24 shots for 3-3 Southern Maine.

Saint Joseph’s 6, Pine Manor 0

At Chestnut Hill, Mass., Anna Willis scored two goals and assisted on two more to power the Monks to victory.

Jess Needham scored twice for 3-3 Saint Joseph’s of Standish, while Stephanie Masters tallied one goal and one assist. Katye Mayo and Katelyn Call combined to make two saves on five shots.

Kayla Nielsen made 10 saves on 27 shots for 3-2-1 Pine Manor.

Men’s soccer

Saint Joseph’s 6, Pine Manor 0

At Chestnut Hill, Mass., Anna Willis scored two goals and assisted on two others to lead the Saint Joseph’s College Monks past Pine Manor College.

Jess Needham scored two goals while Stephanie Masters and Brianna Jordan each scored one for the Monks of Standish. Katye Mayo of Fairfield made two saves on five shots.

Kayla Nielsen of Saco made 10 saves on 23 shots for the Gators.
