COLLEGE

Kelly Newton

University of Maine freshman forward Kelly Newton was named the America East Field Hockey Rookie of the Week. Newton had three goals and two assists against Bryant on Saturday added provided an assist against Quinnipiac on Sunday.

Victor Gagne

Colby College senior punter Victor Gagne was named the NESCAC Special Teams Football Player of the Week. Gagne had eight punts for an average of 42.6 yards against Williams.

Loni Pisani

Colby College goalkeeper Loni Pisani was honored as the NESCAC Women’s Soccer Co-Player of the Week. Pisani made 17 saves in 186:02 minutes in two 1-0 overtimes games against the University of New England and Trinity.

Tyler Jasud

University of Southern Maine junior Tyler Jasud of Rumford was named the Little East Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. Jasud placed second in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational Saturday with a time of 25:06 on the five-mile course.

Alex Gomes

University of Southern Maine freshman Alex Gomes was named the Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week by the Little East Conference. Gomes placed 14th of 278 runners in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. He clocked a time of 25:28.

Gabby Cyr

University of Southern Maine senior Gabby Cyr of Fort Kent was honored as the Little East Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. Cyr placed fourth in the 310-runner field at the UMass Invitational. He ran the 5K course in 18 minutes, 39 seconds.

Colin Reilly

Senior back Colin Reilly of the University of Southern Maine was named the Little East Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Reilly spearheaded a Huskies’ defense that allowed only one goal in two wins against Bowdoin and Keene State.

David Kreps

University of Southern Maine junior David Kreps was named the Men’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week by the Little East Conference. Kreps made seven saves for a 0.50 goals against average in a 2-0 week.

Christine LaBelle

University of Maine forward senior tri-captain Christine LaBelle was named the American East Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. LaBelle had the winning goal in Maine’s win over Cornell Sunday.

Carolyne Nellis

Freshman forward Carolyne Nellis of the University of Maine was named the Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week by the Little East Conference. Nellis provided an assist against Dartmouth on Thursday and has five points on the season.

Cam Betts

University of Maine at Farmington freshman Cam Betts of Gray was named the North Atlantic Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. Betts finished 117th in the UMass Darmouth Invitational to lead the Beavers. His time of 27:32 ranks in the top 10 all time in school history for five miles.

Melani St. Pierre

University of Maine at Farmington freshman Melani St. Pierre was honored as the Women’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week St. Pierre led UMF with an 88th-place finish in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. She finished the 5K course with a time of 19:58.

Chris Hamel

Husson University sophomore Chris Hamel of Waterville was named the North Atlantic Conference Men’s Golf Player of the Week. Hamel was the medalist in the State of Maine Tournament. He shot a two-day total of 152. He then finished first in the Colby Classic.

Mike Herse

Husson University first year player Mike Herse of Presque Isle was named the Men’s Golf Rookie of the Week by the North Atlantic Conference. Herse was second in the UMF Invitational and claimed a top 10 in the Colby College Classic.

Kaeleigh Barker

Senior goalkeeper Kaeleigh Barker of the University of Maine at Farmington was named the NAC Field Hockey Player of the Week. Barker had seven saves in a 2-1 win over Husson and eight saves in a 3-1 victory over Southern Maine.

Sarah Bartell

Saint Joseph’s College freshman forward Sarah Bartell was named the North Atlantic Conference Field Hockey Co-Rookie of the Week with Lasell College’s Christine Thornton. Bartell scored her first collegiate goal in a 4-3 loss to U-New England.

Ryan Pelletier

University of Maine at Farmington junior Ryan Pelletier of Orrington was named the NAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. Pelletier scored a goal and provided two assists in a 3-1 win over Maine Maritime Academy Saturday.

Marion Kish

Husson University junior Marion Kish was honored as the North Atlantic Conference Women’s Volleyball Co-Player of the Week. Kish had a career-high 34 assists in a win over Green Mountain College. Th Eagles finished the week 3-0.

Amy Young

Maine Maritime Academy junior middle hitter Amy Young of Cumberland was named the Women’s Volleyball Co-Player of the Week by the North Atlantic Conference. Young collected 35 kills, nine assists, seven aces and 16 digs to lead MMA to a 3-0 week.

Lauren Sakahara

Maine Maritime Academy freshman Lauren Sakahara was honored as the NAC Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week. Sakahara had a school-record 30 digs in a 3-1 win over Green Mountain College.
