Belfast man charged with domestic assault

BELFAST – A local man accused of assaulting his girlfriend and breaking her telephone during an incident in Stockton Springs on Tuesday night turned himself in to police Wednesday.

Donald P. Lamarche, 29, of Belfast was charged with domestic assault and obstructing the report of a crime or injury as a result of the altercation. The assault allegedly took place at a Station Street residence at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday and Lamarche had fled the scene by the time Waldo County Deputy Sheriff James Greeley arrived.

Lamarche turned himself in to Lt. Bryant White at the sheriff’s office at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday and was taken to jail. He is being held on $400 bail.
