Faunce scores 3, Vikes collect 3rd Waterville, MCI, Old Town win

EAST SULLIVAN – Tianna Faunce scored three goals to lead the Searsport Vikings to an 8-1 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Sumner Tigers Saturday.

Olivia Quigley and Kali Berenyi tallied two goals each and Abby Landmesser added one for 3-1 Searsport. Megan Higgins made three saves on five shots.

Tashia Daley scored on a Lona Sargent assist for 1-3 Sumner. Kelsey Tucker and Katelyn Hodgkins combined to make 15 saves on 24 shots.

Madawaska 5, Calais 3

At Madawaska, Susan Lavertu scored four goals as Madawaska improved to 5-3.

Lavertu sandwiched two of her goals around one by Valerie Parker in the second half to break a 2-2 tie.

Kallie Pelletier had two assists and Stephanie Nadeau made 11 saves for the winners.

Toni Cole scored twice for 1-2 Calais and Alex McVicar had the other goal. Lauren Bemington had an assist and Hillary Hollingdale made 13 saves on 24 shots for 1-2 Calais.

Presque Isle 7, Central 0

At Presque Isle, Kayla Legassie scored two goals to lead the Wildcats to victory.

Sarah Porter, Tessa Ward, Hannah Cheney, Katrina Whittier and Jodie Buckley contributed one goal apiece for 3-1 Presque Isle. Kellsey Park made two saves on two shots.

Shari Shina registered 17 saves on 25 shots for 0-3 Central of Corinth.

Fort Kent 8, Piscataquis 0

At Fort Kent, Taylor Boucher scored three goals as the Warriors cruised to their sixth victory of the season.

Jamie Pelletier notched a goal and an assist for 6-1-1 Fort Kent, while Emily Bard, Jessica Caron, Gabby Naranja and Katelyn Roy tallied one goal apiece. Vanessa Pelletier provided two assists.

Carissa Pelletier and Samantha Carapelluci combined to make eight saves on 14 shots for the winners.

Julia Shaffer made 16 saves on 38 shots for 1-2-1 Piscataquis of Guilford.

Waterville 10, Hampden 1

At Hampden, Jordan Pellerin scored six goals as Waterville improved to 4-0.

Stephanie Whitten had a goal and three assists; Paige Gardiner had a goal and two assists and Laura Tozier and Shelby Tuttle had the other goals.

Abbie Webster had an assist and Taylor Hart faced one shot.

Chelsea Kuzio scored off a Kate Chambers assist for 1-3 Hampden Academy while Julia Snyder and Tessa Wood combined for 13 saves on 23 shots.

JV: Waterville 2-0

MCI 2, Oak Hill 2

At Pittsfield, goals by Megan Liebowitz and Melanie Arias lifted Maine Central Institute to a 2-2 tie with Oak Hill of Sabattus.

Becci Leclair scored both goals for Oak Hill.

Old Town 6, Foxcroft 1

At Old Town, Katie Deshane scored three goals as the Indians improved to 4-0.

Samantha McLaughlin scored two goals and Kayla Brooks provided a goal each for Old Town. Hannah Barry collected three assists, while Meagan Cousins and Sabrina Jordan posted two each and Erin St. Peter added one.

Annie Cashon made four saves on nine shots.

Shee-Ann Sergeant scored an unassisted goal for 1-2 Foxcroft Academy. Sarah Whittemore and Haley McLeod combined to make eight saves on 26 shots.

JV: Old Town 4-1

Boys soccer

Caribou 1, MDI 0 (1OT)

At Bar Harbor, Ted Walker pounced on a loose ball and scored from 10 yards out with 50 seconds left in the first overtime as Caribou improved to 4-1-1. Eric Brown made four saves on 10 shots.

Ben Cummings made three saves on eight shots for 2-1 MDI.

JV: MDI 2-1

Houlton 2, Lee Acad. 2 (2OT)

At Houlton, Carston Kaiser scored off an assist by Hector Gutierrez with 14:04 to play, helping Lee Academy erase a 2-0 deficit and earn a tie against Houlton through two overtimes.

Wen Jun Lee scored on a Jeong Ho Oh assist for the 0-2-1 Pandas, while Alex Harris made 10 saves on 12 shots.

Justin Haggerty and Micah Goetsch netted unassisted first-half goals for the 2-5-1 Shiretowners. Ran Vanbuskirk made three saves on five shots.

Searsport 3, Sumner 0

At East Sullivan, Chris Gillo’s two-goal performance sparked the Vikings to victory.

Dylan Mcfarline scored a goal for 1-3 Searsport to back Dan Peach, who made seven saves on 10 shots.

Mike Crowley made nine saves on 12 shots for 0-4 Sumner.

Field hockey

Brewer 2, Morse 0

At Brewer, Emily Fraser’s first-half goal and Delaney Turner’s second-half score supplied Brewer with its win over Morse of Bath.

Angela Patterson made seven saves for 1-2 Brewer. Allison DeFilipp and Sarah Babin had assists.

Alejandra Rodriguez made seven saves for 0-2 Morse.

JV: Brewer 2-0

Dexter 1, Foxcroft 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, Jess Mason scored an unassisted goal on a breakaway with 11 seconds left in the second overtime, lifting the Tigers to victory over the Ponies.

Sam Conway made seven saves on 14 shots for 3-0 Dexter.

Cassie Curtis made three saves on nine shots for Foxcroft Academy.

Central 2, Piscataquis 0

At Corinth, Roberta Trafton and Samantha Blanchard (penalty stroke) each scored a goal to propel the Red Devils to victory over the Pirates.

Brittany Cole made two saves on two shots for 1-2 Central.

Brianna Tweedie made four saves on 14 shots for Piscataquis of Guilford.

JV: Foxcroft 2-1

Orono 1, John Bapst 0

At Orono, Jill Tuell scored off an assist from Amy Mares with 6:25 remaining in the game, giving the Red Riots the victory over the Crusaders.

Amber Saucier recorded nine saves on 11 shots for 1-3 Orono.

Morgan Smith made seven saves on eight shots for 1-2 John Bapst of Bangor.

JV: John Bapst 2-0

Belfast 8, Lincoln Academy 0

At Belfast, Ori Downs scored a pair of goals and Danielle Littlefield had a goal and two assists as Belfast improved to 2-1.

Dacia Ryder and Allison Murnane had a goal and an assist apiece with Renna Smith, Paige Kelley and Lauren Rice scoring the other goals. Crystle Kirby had two assists and Helene Wallace had one.

Paxton Mohney wasn’t required to make a save.

Ari Clifford made 17 saves for 0-3 Lincoln Academy in Newcastle.

JV: Belfast 2-1

Football

Waterville 15, Nokomis 7

At Newport, Kyle Bishop completed a 31-yard touchdown pass to Nolan McDonald midway through the fourth quarter, helping the Purple Panthers overcome the Warriors.

Bishop also hooked up with Cam Bishop on a 29-yard scoring toss in the third quarter to help Waterville tie the game. The visitors added a late safety.

Nokomis took the lead on its first possession as Derek Amoroso completed passes of 38 and 18 yards to Ethan Curry to set up a 3-yard TD pass to Jonathan Barrows.

Gerald Gould paced the Warriors with 10 tackles, while Stanley Prophet posted eight tackles, including four sacks, and recovered a fumble. Shane Campbell added six tackles and three sacks, while Paul Ketchum made an interception.
