On June 10 Democrats will vote in the primary to decide which candidate should replace Ted Koffman as our representative in Augusta. Because Ted has served us well, making our choice a particularly serious one, I am supporting Gary Friedmann in the primary.
Gary knows our community well, our problems and our concerns. He has lived here for over 25 years, been chairman of the Conservation Commission, and served as a member of the Warrant Committee. His role in helping local nonprofit organizations with their fundraising has given him a breadth of insight across our district. He knows us and has our welfare in his heart.
Gary will bring a special ability to the Legislature that will serve us well, something rare among newcomers to Augusta. His work over the years with non-profits throughout Maine has given him contacts and friendships that will help him in forging the legislative relationships that are so important in getting things done. He begins with a level of respect few novice legislators can command.
And Gary’s values are what we want in Augusta. I have known him well for nearly 20 years. He understands the problems of earning a living, running a business, making ends meet. With his wife Glenon, he has raised his daughters here as they attended our local schools. He has the common sense that comes with maturity and the combination of compassion and realism that it takes to legislate well. His values are grounded in family and community.
I urge voters to join me on June 10 in voting for him in the Democratic primary.
