Not Bush’s war

Everywhere is the constant drivel from liberals about “Bush’s war,” from Democratic politicians to Subarus plastered with bumper stickers.

I know you can never change a liberal’s mind but there are a few things I want to remind them of: From the embarrassing retreat from Somalia to the attack on the USS Cole, Clinton’s policy of “turn the other cheek” did not stop more attacks. It just allowed terrorists the opportunity to improve their techniques.

In 1998, Clinton announced it was U.S. policy to seek regime change in Iraq. Not that he actually did anything, but it became official. In 2002, allied intelligence agencies had the same assessment of the Iraqi threat. Also in 2002, the U.S. House and the Senate authorized the use of force. The United Nations also authorized the use of force. With all these representatives, senators and other countries involved, how did it become Bush’s war?

Mistakes were made in the execution of the war. Which war has been executed without mistake? Liberals like to complain that the Sept. 11 attacks didn’t come from Iraq. Based on that line of thinking, were we wrong to go to war against Nazi Germany? After all, it didn’t attack Pearl Harbor.

There are terrorists who live to destroy America. Some are supported by Iran and Syria, others live and train in failed nations. We must not allow Iraq to become a failed nation and create a safe place for these people to continue their cause.
