Belfast scores 5 in 7th for win

BELFAST – Dale Dutton’s RBI single with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning completed a six-hit, five-run rally Monday as Belfast came from behind to pull out a 7-6 high school baseball victory over Winslow.

Bryce Ridley and Jack Davis opened the inning with singles and, after a walk, Derrick Bernosky hit a run-scoring single. Tyler Bowen followed with an RBI fielder’s choice, then Jake Arthers singled in a run.

After Cote Ward hit into a fielder’s choice that led to an error and the tying run, Steinort singled to set up Dutton’s game-winner.

Dutton finished with two singles for Belfast and went the distance on the mound, scattering 10 hits. Bowen doubled and singled, while Bernosky and Steinort each had another single.

Chris Brawn paced Winslow with two doubles and a single. Kevin Martin doubled and singled.

At Calais, Josh Gillespie allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out eight to lead Calais past Houlton.

Jordan Leeman doubled for Calais. Matt O’Brien and Gillespie each had a single.

Corey Woodward hit an RBI single in the seventh inning to pace Houlton. Porter Gervais and Josh Harvey singled.

At Rockport, Gordon Fischer hit a solo home run in the fifth inning and added a two-run homer in the sixth to lift Camden Hills over Waterville.

Jake Grinnell doubled and singled with an RBI for Camden Hills. Thomas Kennedy and Phil Curll each hit two singles and drove in a run.

Brian Bridger singled and hit a solo home run in the sixth to pace Waterville. Eli Fitzgerald had two singles and an RBI and Brian Chaput singled and doubled.

At Lee, Ed Flaherty hit a solo home run in the second inning and added an RBI double to push Woodland past Lee Academy.

Chad James doubled twice for the Dragons and Andy Brown added two singles and two RBIs.

Lee’s Ryan Beers hit a two-run single in the first inning and Kyle McLeod doubled and singled.

At Jonesport, Blake Chase and Colby Tucker combined to pitch a two-hit shutout, allowing no walks and striking out nine, to lift Narraguagus of Harrington past Jonesport-Beals.

Josh Beal hit a double, single and drove in three runs for the Knights. Cam Jordan had two singles and two RBIs. Chase doubled and singled with two RBIs and Tucker added two singles and two RBIs.

Zach Fenton and Terrell Carver singled to lead Jonesport-Beals.

At Searsport, Casey Ashey and Rocky Faunce combined to allow one run on five hits and two walks while striking out nine to lead Searsport to the win over Deer Isle-Stonington.

Tom Cameron had three singles and scored three runs for Searsport. Matt Bagley singled twice and knocked in two runs and Ethan McHatten added a double, single and an RBI.

Collin Ciomei paced the Mariners with two doubles and an RBI.

At Millinocket, Steve Brenton hit a solo home run in the fourth inning and added a three-run single in the fifth to lead Sumner of East Sullivan to victory over Stearns.

Mike Crowell allowed one run on three hits and three walks while striking out nine for the Tigers.

Sumner’s Crowley doubled and singled with two RBIs and Joe Simmons added an RBI single.

Garen Manzo singled and stole three bases to pace Stearns. Jason Levasseur and Justin Pelkey singled.

GHCA sweeps East Grand

At Danforth, Chad Duff collected seven hits and pitched a 10-inning complete game to lead Greater Houlton Christian Academy to a doubleheader sweep of East Grand.

The Eagles won the first game 12-10 in 10 innings and took the second game 5-3 in a game called after five innings because of rain.

In Game 1, Duff pitched a seven-hitter, striking out 17, and singled four times to help GCHA prevail.

Jaren Gray and Ryan Campbell each singled and scored the tying and winning runs in the 10th. Campbell also tripled and doubled with two RBIs, while Mckenzie Burns doubled and singled (1 RBI).

Kaleb Dicker led East Grand of Danforth with an inside-the-park home run and a single, while Abe Brittain and Andrew Gilman posted two singles and two RBIs each.

In Game 2, the Eagles scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to pull out the win.

Duff stroked a triple, a double and a single for the winners and Straubel singled twice behind winner Campbell.

Dicker hit a double for the Vikings.

At Jonesport, Kim Greene scattered six hits, struck out nine and walked three to help the Knights of Harrington improve to 4-4.

Andrea Perry paced the Knights with two singles, a double and an RBI and Jessica Tenan had a double and single.

Sarah Milliken singled twice for J-B and Morgan MacLean and Hannah Carver each added RBI singles.

At Searsport, Abby Landmesser scored the winning run from third base in the bottom of the seventh on an Emma Clark single to give Searsport the win over Deer Isle-Stonington.

Jana Frances-Mezger hit a two-run double in the fifth inning for Searsport and Megan Higgins added a two-run single in the second inning.

Britnie Jones hit a two-run triple in the seventh inning for the Mariners and scored the tying run on a sacrifice bunt. Abby Grindle doubled and scored.

At Rockport, Hayley Bucheit allowed only four hits, struck out seven and walked two to give the Windjammers the win.

Bucheit helped herself out with two singles and two RBIs. Lynn Maybury chipped in with a single and RBI and Kristen Tedford doubled.

Paige Gardiner doubled twice for the Panthers.

At Danforth, Kiki Smart pitched a complete game and hit two inside-the-park home runs to help Greater Houlton Christian Academy outlast host East Grand in a slugfest.

The two teams combined for 56 hits.

Smart hit a two-run homer and a solo shot for the Eagles. Kasi Parker had a double and two singles, while Megan Carroll had two singles.

Nikki Tuck hit a triple and three singles, Courtney Lloyd had a triple and two singles, Liz Gilman had a double and two singles, and Kaitlyn Beaudoin added a solo inside-the-park homer.

Alex McVicar doubled, singled and drove in a run for Calais and Honor Wilkinson added two singles and an RBI.

Vicki Overlock singled and tripled for Belfast and Brianna Webster singled and scored twice.

At Waldoboro, Kristen Sousa hit two singles, a double and scored two runs to lift Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield over Medomak Valley.

Tiffany McLaggen had two singles and two RBIs for MCI and Libby Brook tripled.

Kayla Santheson had a double and two singles with an RBI for Medomak. Jessica Koon had two singles and two RBIs and Kayla Vannah doubled.

At Lee, Amanda Gifford hit four singles and Brooke Harris added three to lead Lee Academy past Woodland.

Ashley Laking singled twice for Woodland and Julia Nicholas notched a two-run double.
