Veteran officer offered job in Knox County

ROCKLAND – Joseph F. Kieras, formerly of Spring Hill, Fla., has been offered the position of patrol administrator in the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, according to the Knox County Commission.

He is scheduled to attend the Maine Criminal Justice Academy’s “100 hour” course May 12-23 and begin his duties May 24.

Kieras comes to Maine with years of experience in law enforcement. After working as a patrol officer in the Newtown, Conn., Police Department, he then served on the Tampa, Fla., police force.

He spent nine months working for the U.S. Department of Justice in Virginia as an international police trainer, and another six months as an international police adviser.

He is a lifelong martial artist, having trained in Shotokan karate, Hapkido and Tae Kwon Do. He holds an associate degree from St. Leo University in Florida.
