Toxic-waste activists to speak at UM today

ORONO – Toxic-waste activists Joanne Twomey, mayor of Biddeford, Hillary Lister, president of Citizens Against Pollution in Town, and Debbie Gibbs, founding member of We, the People, will talk about the challenges they face, the actions they have taken, and the vision they have for a cleaner Maine environment, at 2:15 p.m. today in the Coe Room in Memorial Union, University of Maine, Orono.

The presentation is sponsored by the Maine Studies Program and is part of UM Women in the Curriculum’s Women’s History Month events.
