McCloskey eclipses PVHS record in win

HOWLAND – Junior point guard Casey McCloskey set a Penobscot Valley schoolgirl record with 48 points as the Howlers earned a 75-44 schoolgirl basketball victory over Searsport on Wednesday night.

McCloskey had three 3-pointers and a 7-of-7 effort at the free-throw line en route to her career best, which topped a 27-point outing earlier this season.

McCloskey also had 18 steals and 10 rebounds.

Kirstie Dawson added 12 points for Penobscot Valley.

Abby Landmessek and Kylie Jettinghoff each had eight points for Searsport.

The win was the 13th straight this season and 23rd consecutive win overall for unbeaten Bangor, the defending Class A state champion.

Senior guard Jon McAllian added 12 points and five assists for the Rams.
