Man pleads not guilty to killing a paramedic

AUBURN – A Turner man charged with manslaughter and drunken driving arising from a crash that killed a paramedic has pleaded not guilty.

Christopher Boutin appeared in Superior Court in Auburn on Thursday to answer charges that he was responsible for crashing his pickup truck into an ambulance on Route 4, killing 46-year-old Allan Parsons of Wilton. The ambulance driver and Boutin were seriously injured.

Investigators said Boutin was drunk at the time of the July 5 crash and failed to yield to the ambulance, which had its emergency lights on.

Authorities say Boutin’s blood-alcohol level was more than 0.15 percent, which is nearly twice the legal limit for drunken driving. An indictment was handed up earlier this month.
