I would just like to warn the public about being swindled when buying fresh vegetables. My first experience was at the vegetable stand at the downtown Thursday market.
I purchased green beans and cucumbers and paid about four times the supermarket price for the produce. At another time, I purchased cucumbers and tomatoes at a farm stand, and after I complained about the very high price, the merchant dropped the price $3. I don’t know how widespread this problem is, but I have experienced this overcharging more than once.
I have come to believe this is their way to increase their profits, and they plead they made an error when questioned. Just be sure you ask the price of each item individually before you pay for all of your produce.
