3,700 customers lose power in Bangor area

More than 3,700 electricity customers in Greater Bangor lost power Tuesday afternoon after two separate companies reported community outages.

Central Maine Power Co. had a circuit problem that left 2,686 customers without power in Carmel, Glenburn, Hampden, Hermon, Kenduskeag and Levant. Power went out around 2:20 p.m. and was restored by 2:50, according to Gail Rice, company spokeswoman.

A mechanical malfunction in Bangor Hydro Electric Co.’s Dedham substation resulted in lost power for 1,057 customers in Bucksport, Dedham, Holden and Lucerne. Customers lost power around 1:30 p.m., but were back online by 2:15 p.m., according to Susan Faloon, Bangor Hydro spokeswoman.
