Nicastro leads MA Lynx by Foxcroft

LINCOLN – Denielle Nicastro scored the tying and winning goals two minutes apart to lead Mattanawcook Academy to 3-2 field hockey victory over Foxcroft Academy Monday.

Nicastro scored the tying goal with 13 minutes left in the second half off a Brooke Hans-com assist and the winner with 11 minutes remaining on a Michelle Paul assist.

Brittany Piche scored a first-half goal for the 7-1 Lynx. Sarah French stopped eight of 13 shots.

Emily Hutchinson scored on a Kayla Clukey assist in the first half for the 7-2 Ponies and Jen Gagnon added a second-half goal off a Molly Cyr assist. Renee Maneau made nine saves on 14 shots.

JV: Foxcroft 3-0

Orono 1, Piscataquis 0

At Orono, Chelsea Wagner netted an unassisted goal in the first half to lift Orono past Piscataquis of Guilford.

Amber Saucier stopped all 12 shots she faced for the 4-6 Red Riots.

Brianna Tweedie had 10 saves on 11 shots for 0-8 PCHS.

JV: Piscataquis 2-0

Dexter 3, John Bapst 1

At Bangor, Katie Eastman and Denise Robinson each tallied a goal and an assist to lead Dexter past John Bapst.

Calley Mountain added a goal for 8-1 Dexter. Sam Conway stopped three of five shots.

Marianne Ferguson scored in the first half off a Lauren Daigle assist for 0-9 John Bapst. Hillary Laferriere made 12 saves on 15 shots.

JV: Dexter 4-1

Central 2, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Taryn Pineo and Roberta Trafton each scored an unassisted goal as Central of Corinth triumphed.

Kara Voisine had four saves on five shots for the 5-5 Red Devils.

Carrie Cole stopped 25 of 27 shots for 2-7 Hermon.

Boys soccer

HCA 6, Averill/Alfond 1

At Hinckley, Jumtu Morishita scored three of his four goals in the first half, powering the Knights to their first victory of the season.

Thomas Fernandez scored two goals and added an assist for 1-5 Highview Christian Academy of Charleston. Morishita also posted an assist.

Ben Le made four saves on 11 shots.

Randy Doak scored the goal for 0-6 Averill/Alfond School. Joshua Gagnon made six saves on 21 shots.

PCHS 6, Foxcroft 1

At Guilford, Piscataquis Community High built a 3-0 halftime lead and cruised to its fifth victory of the season.

Kyle Curtis led the Pirates with a goal and an assist. Justin Davis, Nolan Lovell, Josh Herrick, Tobey Cleaves and Damian Bridge each added a goal for PCHS, while Brandon London contributed an assist.

Alex Francis scored for Foxcroft.

Corbin Shufelt made six saves on eight shots for 5-3 PCHS. Alex Gray made four saves on 14 shots for 0-8 Foxcroft.

Penobscot Valley 2, Central 1

At Corinth, Ryan Scopino scored an unassisted goal with 15 minutes left in regulation to lift Penobscot Valley of Howland past Central.

Derek Bellevance scored an unassisted goal in the first half for the 4-2-1 Howlers. Aaron Aywalt had 15 saves on 23 shots.

Ryan Bean scored off a Patrick Byers pass for 4-2-1 Central. Tyler Pineo stopped 15 of 18 shots.

Girls soccer

John Bapst 5, Presque Isle 1

At Bangor, Morgan Chasse provided three goals and an assist to lead John Bapst past Presque Isle.

Whitney Sinclair scored two goals and assisted two others for the 5-0-3 Crusaders. Catherine Lammert provided an assist while Sam Maquillian made seven saves on 10 shots.

Kayla Legassie scored an unassisted goal for the 5-1-2 Wildcats and Sara Scott had 15 saves on 20 shots.

Lee 7, Southern Aroostook 1

At Lee, Amanda Gifford scored career goals Nos. 98 and 99 to lead Lee Academy to victory over Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.

Aarika Ritchie had a goal and an assist for 8-0 Lee. Kimmy Thurlow, Dana Houghton, Carol-Ann Albert and Katelynn Mallett scored a goal apiece. Karin Bird made six saves on seven shots.

Brittany Charette scored for the 6-4 Warriors while Emily Cummings made six saves on 35 shots.

Searsport 2, Penquis 0

At Milo, Tianna Faunce scored two second-half goals to lift Searsport over Penquis.

Megan Higgins and Amanda Chaney combined for nine saves on 12 shots for 6-3 Searsport.

Erica Lyford stopped 16 of 19 shots for 1-7 Penquis.

Ellsworth 4, Foxcroft 1

At Ellsworth, Maggie Harding scored two goals to lead Ellsworth to victory over Foxcroft Academy.

Dominique Keefe and Lauren Peer both added a goal for 3-2-2 Ellsworth. Jen Richter provided an assist as Rachel Arkin stopped one of three shots.

Shee Ann Sargent had a second-half goal for 1-7 Foxcroft. Sarah Whittemore made seven saves on 15 shots.

JV: Ellsworth 5-0

Dexter 0, Piscataquis 0 (2OT)

At Dexter, Dexter and Piscataquis of Guilford goalies faced a combined 34 shots but didn’t allow a goal through regulation and two overtimes.

Ashley Richardson stopped 15 of 16 shots for 4-3-1 Dexter.

Jill Martell made 14 saves on 18 shots for 4-2-1 Piscataquis.

Penobscot Valley 4, Schenck 2

At Howland, Molly Thompson scored two goals to lead Penobscot Valley past Schenck of East Millinocket.

Jordan Leveille had a goal and an assisted for the 3-5 Howlers and Lyndsay Drost added a goal. Julie Theriault made 15 saves on 19 shots.

Courtney MacLeod scored both goals for 1-8 Schenck. Tricia Hobbs racked up 25 saves on 34 shots.
