Branscombe sparks Lee past SAHS

LEE – Josh Branscombe scored two goals and provided an assist Friday to lead Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook to a 4-1 boys soccer victory over Lee Academy.

Dakota Sleeper had a goal and an assist for the 5-3-2 Warriors and Jake Lassonde added a goal. Colby Clark made nine saves on 19 shots.

Jacob Kuester scored a second-half goal off a Jesse Hersom assist for 0-7-1 Lee. A.J. Harris made 15 saves on 37 shots.

Woodland 4, Machias 1

At Woodland, Cody Sappier scored a goal and assisted two others to lead Woodland over previously undefeated Machias.

Ben Sears, Scott Boomer and Chad James added goals for the 3-2-2 Dragons. Dan Proulx stopped 16 of 17 shots.

Jacob Stevens scored on a Mike Little assist in the first half for the 5-1-1 Bulldogs. Justin Weaver made 16 saves on 20 shots.

Calais 8, Shead 3

At Eastport, Jeff Johnston scored three goals to push Calais past Shead.

Nathan O’Neil added two goals for the 4-2 Blue Devils. Ryan Cavanaugh, Jeremy Carr and Ben Pagels each scored. Dylan Ramsdell stopped 16 of 20 shots.

Mike Cummings, Dana Mitchell and Nick Ampungan scored for the 2-6 Tigers. Nick Vinson made 12 saves on 31 shots.

Girls soccer

Ellsworth 0, John Bapst 0 (2OT)

At Bangor, the Eagles and Crusaders played to a stalemate through two overtimes.

Rachel Adkins had 25 saves on 37 shots for 2-2-2 Ellsworth. Sam Maquillian stopped 10 of 12 for 4-0-3 John Bapst.

JV: Ellsworth 2-0

Field hockey

Winslow 2, Nokomis 1

At Newport, Heather MacKenzie scored the winning goal with 3:11 left to lead the Black Raiders past Nokomis.

Sarah Pullea tied it at 1-1 with 15:53 left in the second half for 4-3 Winslow. Emma Winters made 10 saves on 11 shots.

Alison Berg scored off an Erin Knights assist with 6:21 remaining in the first half for 4-4 Nokomis. Beth Flanders turned away eight of 10 shots.

JV: Nokomis 4-1

Cony 4, Bangor 0

At Bangor, Stephanie Hinds and Shelby Pelkey scored two goals apiece to lead Cony of Augusta past Bangor.

Natalie Fecteau stopped both shots she faced for Cony.

Hilary Babin turned away nine of 13 shots for Bangor.

JV: Cony 2-0

Dexter 2, Hermon 1

At Dexter, Claire Wyman broke a 1-1 tie at the 14:17 mark in the second half off a Megan Mower assist to lead the Tigers past Hermon.

Denise Robinson scored an unassisted first-half goal for 6-1 Dexter. Sam Conway blocked four of six shots.

Lillian Barry scored in the first half for 2-5 Hermon. Carrie Cole made 12 saves on 21 shots.

JV: Dexter 4-0

Stearns 5, Orono 1

At Millinocket, Katie Mills knocked in three goals and assisted on another by Adriana Eurich as Stearns cruised.

Angela Levesque assisted on two of Mills’ goals while Becca Leavitt assisted on the other for the 7-2 Minutemen. Molly Legassie added a goal and Mallory Osborne an assist. Alyssa Beaulieu had six saves on nine shots.

Amy Mares scored an unassisted goal for the 3-6 Red Riots. Amber Saucier stopped 13 of 27 shots.

JV: Stearns 4-2
