Beal’s OT score gives Broncs win 4 Paul goals pace MA field hockey

HAMPDEN – Nick Beal scored off an assist from Harvey Shue with 3:37 left in overtime to lift the Hampden Academy boys soccer team to a 3-2 win over Brewer Friday.

Maic Frieden and Nate Burke scored first-half goals for 3-2 Hampden. Cam Cox stopped six of eight shots.

Shun Sasaki and Evan Nadeau both scored in the second half for 3-2 Brewer. Chris Brady turned away eight of 11 shots.

JV: Brewer 2-1 (OT)

Penquis 3, Searsport 0

At Milo, Brian Zwicker knocked in a pair of goals to lead Penquis past Searsport.

Eddie Cobb added a goal while Noah Bissell and Jon Portillo collected assists for the 1-4 Patriots. Richie Russell had five saves on six shots.

Dan Peach recorded 16 saves on 39 shots for 0-4 Searsport.

Old Town 5, Foxcroft 2

At Dover-Foxcroft, Chad Paradis registered three goals to lift Old Town over Foxcroft Academy.

Evan Paradis had a goal and an assist for 2-2 Old Town and Colin Ziegenbein added a goal. Josh Hesseltine provided two assists and Luke Bartlett had one assist. Ethan Shanley stopped five of eight shots.

Ben Goodman and Jen Jung scored for 0-3 Foxcroft. Michael Anderson made nine saves on 16 shots.

Houlton 3, Lee Acad. 0

At Houlton, Parker Brown notched a goal and assist to lead Houlton past Lee Academy.

Ryan Hill and Josh Drew added goals and Ben Austin and James Bates assists for the 4-5 Shiretowners. Ryan Van Buskirk saved all three shots he faced.

A.J. Harris stopped 10 of 13 shots for the 0-5 Pandas.

Greenville 2, Vinalhaven 1

At Vinalhaven, Richie Chilson and Kyle Whitman scored unassisted goals to lead Greenville past Vinalhaven.

Tim Post had 15 saves on 16 shots for the 2-2 Lakers.

Keith Drury scored the lone goal for 2-3 Vinalhaven. Nathan Hawkins saved 13 of 15 shots.

Girls soccer

Hampden 3, Brewer 0

At Brewer, Lindsay Martin scored twice to lift Hampden Academy over Brewer.

Kayla Alley added a goal for the 3-2 Broncos. Michelle Wells turned away six of eight shots.

Carolyn Tuck made 13 saves on 16 shots for the 1-4 Witches.

Greenville 3, Vinalhaven 2

At Vinalhaven, McKenna Peat scored two second-half goals, including the game-winner, to lead Greenville past Vinalhaven.

Kaitlin Harmon added a second-half goal for 3-1 Greenville. Lauren Fling made 10 saves on 12 shots.

Olivia Chilles and Chelsea Guptill scored for 1-2-1 Vinalhaven. Dana-Marie Wentworth stopped 14 of 20 shots.

Hermon 0, Ellsworth 0 (2OT)

At Ellsworth, neither Hermon’s Megan Herbert nor Rachel Arkin of Ellsworth allowed a goal through regulation and two overtimes.

Herbert made eight saves on 17 shots for 0-3-1 Hermon.

Arkin stopped four of five shots for 2-2-1 Ellsworth.

Field hockey

Mattanawcook 5, Orono 2

At Lincoln, Michelle Paul scored four second-half goals to lead Mattanawcook Academy past Orono.

Brooke Hanscom scored a first-half goal for the 4-1 Lynx. Sarah French stopped seven of 11 shots.

Amy Mares scored both goals for 2-4 Orono. Amber Saucier made 11 saves on 15 shots.

JV: Mattanawcook 3-0

Dexter 4, Stearns 0

At Dexter, Jess Mason scored a goal and assisted two others to lift Dexter over Stearns of Millinocket.

Jana Kenney, Denise Robinson and Jordan Conway added goals for 5-0 Dexter. Claire Wyman provided an assist and Sam Conway blocked seven of 11 shots.

Alyssa Beaulieu made eight saves on 16 shots for 5-1 Stearns.

JV: Dexter 3-0

Foxcroft 2, John Bapst 1 (OT)

At Bangor, Jen Gagnon scored the winner with 5:04 left in overtime to lift Foxcroft Academy over John Bapst.

Kelsey Boss scored with 13:03 left in the first half for 4-1 Foxcroft. Renee Maheu blocked one of two shots.

Kayla McGrath tied it at 1-1 with 11:38 left in the second half on a Rebecca Ogden assist for 0-5 John Bapst. Hillary Laferriere made 17 saves on 19 shots.

JV: Foxcroft 3-0
