Arts panel gives grant to Paint the Town

WALDOBORO – The Medomak Valley Community Foundation, its nonprofit partners and the Tidemark Gallery announced that the Maine Arts Commission has awarded an Arts in the Community Grant for the Waldoboro Paint the Town event.

The $1,923 grant will provide funds to purchase an expanded art display system and expand marketing for the August event.

The second annual Paint the Town will be held Saturday, Aug. 18. During the day, artists will create paintings from private locations, as well as public sites in Waldoboro and Friendship.

In the evening, their paintings and other works will be offered for sale during an artists’ reception and live auction at the Waldoboro VFW hall. A portion of the auction proceeds will benefit the four nonprofit partners helping stage the event.

The Maine Arts Commission is an independent state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts. For information about the arts commission, visit mainearts.gov.
