Woodland ousts SAHS Warriors Georges Valley earns road victory

DYER BROOK – Jessica Olsson hit three singles and drove in a pair of runs while Ashley Laking hit a home run and drove in two runs as No. 10 Woodland upset No. 7 Southern Aroostook 16-8 in an Eastern Maine Class D softball prelim Wednesday.

Ariel Knights added two singles for the Dragons.

Raya King doubled and singled with two RBIs while Kaylea Collier and Amanda Charette each added two singles for Southern Aroostook.

At Jackman, Elise Begin hit four singles and drove in three runs as No. 4 Forest Hills topped No. 5 Greenville in a WM Class D prelim

Michelle Harris had two singles and a double while Leann Doyle and Vicki Pease each added a pair of singles for the Tigers.

Susan Muzzy doubled and singled while Lauren Fling added a triple for Greenville.

Mattanawcook 8, Belfast 2

At Belfast, Hillary Pelkey hit an RBI triple and RBI double as No. 10 Mattanawcook of Lincoln knocked off No. 7 Belfast.

Bree Hanscom doubled, single and scored a run while Renee Libby singled twice and scored two more for the Lynx.

Stephanie Whittier doubled, tripled and scored a run to lead the Lions.

At Lincoln, Josh Murchison laced a three-run triple to spark a six-run first inning as No. 8 Mattanawcook jumped out to a big lead and never looked back.

Tyson Tash singled and doubled to knock in five runs while Jake Smith had two singles, a double and an RBI for the Lynx. Shey Gardner chipped in a double and a single and Alex Bottarelli two singles and an RBI.

Travis Holson paced No. 9 Rockland with a two-run single and Vern Kzorjak an RBI single. Mike Marsh added two singles and an RBI.

At Millinocket, Tyler Emerson hit a pair of singles and drove in five runs to lead No. 6 Stearns past No. 11 Fort Kent.

Travis Deabay had three singles for Stearns while Cory Barnett, Josh Saucier and Paul Rucci each had two singles. Travis Martin and Jeremy Santerre each added an RBI double for the Minutemen.

Josh Tardif singled twice while Joe Soucy added an RBI double for Fort Kent.

At Bethel, Nick Lemieux’s two-run single highlighted a five-run second inning as No. 9 Georges Valley of Thomaston rolled past No. 8 Telstar.

Larson Platt had two singles and scored two runs for the Buccaneers. Phil Bertocci pitched a one-hitter with eight strikeouts.

Kevin Gallagher singled for Telstar.
