Hawks edge Bucks on Kelley HR in 7th

HERMON – Ashley Kelley belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to lift Hermon to a 3-2 high school softball victory over Bucksport on Wednesday.

Kelley finished with nine strikeouts and drove in Lily Barry, who singled to lead off the seventh. Jaimie Beers added a single and a run scored for the Hawks.

Alex Sullivan had two singles, a double, and two RBIs for the Golden Bucks. Terren Hall notched seven strikeouts.

At Millinocket, Adri Eurich tripled, singled and drove in a run to lead Stearns over Penquis Valley of Milo.

Mikaela Rosebush doubled with an RBI and Amy Collinsworth added two singles and a run scored for the Minutemen.

Amber Benoit notched a single with two runs scored and Erica Lyford singled and scored a run to go along with seven strikeouts for the Patriots.

At Newport, Tatum Welch hit an RBI triple and later scored in the second inning to help lead Nokomis past Skowhegan.

Danielle White doubled and scored a run for the Warriors. Danielle Gray singled and scored the go-ahead run in the third inning.

Brittany Gould hit an RBI double for Skowhegan and Megan Hancock also doubled.

At Howland, Jamie Milton hit an RBI triple and scored on Morgan Cyr’s single with one-out in the bottom of the seventh to give the Howlers the dramatic victory.

Mindy Dolley singled to start Penobscot Valley’s seventh-inning rally, her second single of the game.

Milton added an RBI single in the third inning and also pitched a three-hitter.

Brooke Harris, Karin Bird and Amanda Gifford each singled for Lee.

At Bangor, Ashley Gott knocked in a run with a single and Michelle Wells, who singled twice, scored on an error to highlight a two-run second inning for the Hampden Academy Broncos in the win.

Mikky Libby singled twice and scored on Wells’ hit for the Broncos while Eva Shannon doubled and singled. Lacey Littlefield struck out five in a complete-game effort, scattering one run on two hits.

Tawnya Godinez and Erin Dean both singled for Bangor.

At Brewer, Meghan McLain hit two doubles and two singles to drive in three runs and lead Brewer past Messalonskee of Oakland.

Dominique Defilipp had three singles and three runs scored for the Witches and Sarah Estes doubled and singled with an RBI.

Hannah Dexter had two singles and an RBI for Messalonskee and Kayla Pease hit an RBI single.

At Sabattus, Angie Russell pitched a four-inning no-hitter, striking out seven as Oak Hill prevailed in five innings.

Becca Roberts doubled and singled twice for the Riaders while Sarah Albert and Cadie Rodrigue each singled.

Kristy Huff and Kristen Sousa singled for Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.

At Hodgdon, Brooke Smallwood had two singles and an RBI as Katahdin scored four runs in the top of the seventh to pull away for the win.

Chelsie Bates chipped in with two singles for the Cougars.

Heather London had a double, two singles and four RBIs for the Hawks. Taylor Hovey and Amanda Scott finished with a double and a single apiece.

At Waldoboro, Winslow hit three singles and scored three runs in the sixth inning to edge Medomak Valley.

Katie Canan, Courtney Turner, Kristen Cormier, and Ali Krieqet each had two singles for Winslow and Liz Cheeseman tripled.

Melissa Ambridge and Tessa Dodge singled twice for Medomak Valley.

At Lincoln, Jake Smith knocked an RBI triple and RBI single to lead Mattanawcook past Presque Isle.

Tyson Tash tripled and singled twice to drive in two runs and Peter Coggins had two singles and an RBI for the Lynx. Shey Gardner added two singles.

Logan York led the Wildcats with two singles, two doubles and an RBI. Dillon Kingsbury singled in a run and Brennan Shaw hit two singles.

Rick Stewart knocked a two-run triple while Ethan Woodman and A.J. McGowan each had a pair of RBI doubles for the Tigers. Zach Leal contributed two singles.

At Millinocket, Tyler Emerson struck out 10 batters in 6 2/3 innings on the mound as the Minutemen won their home opener.

Emerson had a no-hitter for 4 2/3 innings before Penquis of Milo’s Brandon Smith broke it up with the first of his two singles.

Stearns took control with four runs in the first inning. Emerson had an RBI single during the rally, while Cory Barnett and Justin Pelkey each had a sacrifice fly.

Barnett, Jordan Burleigh and Trent Brown each added a double for the Minutemen.

Nick Emery contributed a double for Penquis.

At Hermon, Eddie Robbins hit a two-run single in the seventh inning to give Bucksport the lead and eventual win over Hermon.

Chris Maguire added a couple insurance runs with a two-run home run in the seventh for Bucksport. Miles Bisher hit a two-run triple in the fifth and Cam Wadleigh added two singles.

Paul Ormsby had three singles and a double with an RBI for Hermon. Travis Kane had two singles and three RBIs and Zach Deabay hit a two-run double.

At Brewer, Messalonskee scored on an error in the top of the seventh and hung on for the win over Brewer.

Josh Gilbert doubled and Nick Curato and Nick Fenlason each singled for the Eagles.

Eric White smacked a two-run double, as well as another double, and Shun Sasaki singled for the Witches.

At Sabattus, Josh Jillson tossed a no-hitter allowing just two walks and no runs while striking out 13 to lead Oak Hill past Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.

Jillson singled and hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning for Oak Hill and Brandon Plourde added a two-run double in the fifth.

Travis Saucier walked twice for MCI.

Josh Guiggey singled three times and drove in three runs, and Josh McGraw chipped in with three singles for the Cougars.

Levi Scott hit an RBI double and Jamie Ryan singled for the Hawks.
