Downeast Sexual Assault Services is looking for volunteers to staff its 24-hour crisis and support hot line. A 40-hour training program will begin Monday, Feb. 19, and will continue from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and Thursday evenings at the Downeast Health Services office in Ellsworth.
Hot line volunteers provide support and accompaniment services for sexual assault victims, their families and significant others. They also provide referral information for other programs. Volunteers are issued pagers and can answer calls from their home or workplace.
Four Continuing Education Units are available upon successful completion of training.
