Gardner helps Mattanawcook pass by Stearns

LINCOLN – Shey Gardner completed seven of nine passes for 83 yards and three touchdowns to lead Mattanawcook Academy to a 39-0 football victory over Stearns of Millinocket FRiday night.

Brady Vose carried the ball 11 times for 107 yards and scored in the first quarter for the Lynx.

Derek Libbey returned a punt return 78 yards for a touchdown and caught a 28-yard pass from Gardner for another score.

Isaac Young caught two touchdown passes from Gardner for Mattanawcook and also had nine tackles and two quarterback sacks.

Peter Coggins added a 13-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Ian Nevells had 18 tackles and Nathan Nevells added 14 tackles for the Lynx.

Mattanawcook held the LTC’s leading rusher Gene Kim of Stearns to 38 yards on 20 carries.

Bucksport 29, Rockland 20

At Bucksport, Nate Warren rushed 20 times for 226 yards and scored a touchdown in the second quarter to help lift Bucksport over Rockland.

Chris Maguire caught a 4-yard pass from Derek Fish for a TD in the second quarter and returned an intercepted pass for a touchdown for the Golden Bucks. Maguire had 13 carries for 98 yards.

Todd Freeman scored on a 5-yard run in the first quarter and Bucksport totaled 404 yards, including 372 yards rushing.

Andrew Weiss completed 9 of 23 passes for 139 yards, including 29- and 49-yard touchdown passes in the fourth quarter for Bucksport.

Josh Elwell and Pat McMahon caught TD passes from Weiss.

Mike Marsh ran 138 yards on 23 carries and scored a third-quarter touchdown for Rockland.

Rockland had 359 total yards with 220 yards coming on the ground.

Foxcroft 62, Dexter 8

At Dover-Foxcroft, Brad Bellemare rushed nine times for 126 yards, scored a touchdown on a 25-yard run in the first quarter, and converted all six extra-point kicks to help lead Foxcroft Academy past Dexter.

Wade Witham had 10-yard and 8-yard touchdown runs for the Ponies. Davis Frasz added a 26-yard and 18-yard touchdown runs.

Ian Imbert scored on a 5-yard touchdown run in the second quarter while rushing seven times for 72 yards.

Ben Provost, Ian Champeon, and Ben Richardson added rushing touchdowns for Foxcroft.

Ben Spizuoco scored a touchdown from five yards out in the fourth quarter for the Tigers. Josh Cousins had eight carries for 70 yards.
