Hampden man jailed in OUI incident

HAMPDEN – A Hampden man was arrested early Thursday morning for OUI after he ignored an officer’s order not to drive.

Officer Shawn Devine was on patrol around 3 a.m. when he saw a car parked at the Irving in Hampden with one person sitting inside it. Police reports state that when he approached the vehicle and spoke to Brian Osborne, 25, he determined that Osborne was intoxicated and told him not to drive the vehicle anywhere. Osborne told Officer Devine he would not leave the parking lot and planned to sleep in his car.

According to police reports, less than 10 minutes after he left Osborne in the parking lot, Officer Devine witnessed Osborne driving his car. At that point, Officer Devine stopped Osborne and arrested him for OUI. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail and made bail later that morning.
