Lincolnville man arrested in assault case

ROCKLAND – A Lincolnville man was arrested Tuesday night after a fight broke out near G.M. Pollack jewelry store on Main Street.

Keith Carpenter, 23, was charged with domestic assault, according to Deputy Chief Wallace Tower on Wednesday.

Sgt. Daniel Brown responded at 7:38 p.m. to a report of a man and woman fighting.

A 20-year-old woman told the officer that Carpenter, whom she knew, had been inside her vehicle and allegedly went into a rage and grabbed the steering wheel while the vehicle was moving. She was able to stop the vehicle. Then he threw her cell phone out the window.

Carpenter began assaulting her, Tower said, grabbing her and ripping her purse from her arm. She managed to get out of the vehicle and fled.

Later that night, the sergeant located Carpenter and arrested him, Tower said. The time of arrest was not available. The victim suffered minor injuries, he said.
