News in brief BREWER: SCHOOL BOARD MEETS WITH ATTORNEY

The Brewer School Committee is heading to Augusta on Thursday for a Maine School Management Association conference and also will meet with an attorney behind closed doors about a pending litigation while in the state’s capital. “There is no action anticipated,” Superintendent Daniel Lee said Tuesday. Lee declined to state what litigation would be discussed. Melissa Hewey, the Portland attorney who is representing the school board in the lawsuit former softball coach Kelly Cookson recently filed in Penobscot County Superior Court against the school department, is scheduled to speak at the conference.
