Police arrest Presque Isle man on 2 charges in sex assault case

PRESQUE ISLE – A local man remained at the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton Monday on charges of gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact, according to a police report.

Tom Murray, 26, of Presque Isle was arrested Oct. 18 after an incident involving a 16-year-old victim on Oct. 5. The victim reported the incident to the Presque Isle Police Department 10 days later, the report stated.

Murray’s bail was set at $3,000 cash or $6,000 surety on the first charge, and $1,000 cash or $3,000 surety on the second charge. Murray also faces a charge of violating conditions of his release.

Detective Sgt. Wayne Selfridge was the arresting officer.

Murray faces a Dec. 21 court date in Superior Court in Caribou.
