Pet Spooktacular to aid equine rescue efforts

UNION – Mount Pleasant Farm and Mountain Equine Rescue, Rehab and Retirement has announced its “Pet Spooktacular” Family Fun Day, which will be held 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 28 at 885 Mount Pleasant Farm Road.

The event will include exhibits by other area shelters. Attendees are encouraged to come in costume. There will be fundraising activities throughout the day, including raffles, a rummage sale, a silent auction and games.

Mount Pleasant Equine Rescue, Rehab and Retirement has been saving unwanted horses for 26 years. Many of the animals they have taken in have been victims of abuse and neglect.

Thirty horses are permanent residents of the farm, in addition to a constant influx of horses that are available for adoption. MERRR needs funding for the daily costs of maintaining such a high number of horses, as well as for repairs to the facilities.
