Culvert replacement planned in Searsport

SEARSPORT – The Maine Department of Transportation will begin work Oct. 23-27 on two culvert replacement projects on Route 1. This work will involve a traffic detour and an overnight lane closure of a section of Route 1, according to Brad Putnam of Maine DOT’s Region 2 office.

The first project will be located on Route 1 just south of Prospect Street. This project will require a detour of southbound traffic. Northbound traffic will be able to stay on Route 1 but drivers can expect single-lane traffic through the work area.

The second project will take place north of the intersection of Route 1 and Mortland Road and will require one night of alternating one-way traffic. The lane closure is scheduled for 6 p.m.-6 a.m. Oct. 24-25 but may be rescheduled in case of bad weather.
