St. Agatha man accused of criminal mischief

FORT KENT – A St. Agatha man has been charged with criminal mischief in the alleged damage of a car owned by his former girlfriend.

Dean Chamberland, 24, of 38 Brook Road is scheduled to appear in Fort Kent District Court on Nov. 13.

According to Fort Kent Police Chief Kenneth Michaud, a Frenchville man reported last Friday that his daughter’s car had been tampered with in the parking lot of Northern Maine Medical Center while she was inside the hospital working.

Michaud said the car had two flat tires. Transported to a Frenchville garage for repairs, it was noted that the engine would not turn over. An investigation of the problem found that screws had been dumped into the engine from the oil fill pipe.

It was not known on Thursday, according to Michaud, how much damage was caused to the car. He said Chamberland was charged on Tuesday.

The charge against Chamberland alleges that he was involved with both problems.
