Mars Hill woman charged with forgery

PRESQUE ISLE – A Mars Hill woman faces several charges after she allegedly stole a prescription pad from a doctor’s office this week and attempted to have a drug prescription filled at a local pharmacy, according to police.

Justice Spell, 20, was charged on Tuesday with forgery, theft, and attempting to acquire drugs by deception, Sgt. Tom Pelletier of the Maine State Police said Thursday.

Spell allegedly attempted to have a prescription for Vicodin filled at a nearby pharmacy, but a pharmacist became suspicious after noticing that the signature appeared to be forged.

Trooper Jeff Clark followed up on the investigation and observed friends of Spell attempt to pick up the pills on her behalf, Pelletier said.

Further investigation is pending.

Spell is expected to appear in Presque Isle District Court to answer the charges.
