BANGOR – A Houlton man was sentenced on Tuesday in U.S. District Court to 14 months in prison on a federal gun charge.
Augustus J. Edgerton, 35, also was sentenced to three years of supervised release after he completes his sentence and was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.
A federal jury found Edgerton guilty in March after a two-day trial in federal court in Bangor of making a false statement on a federal firearm application.
Edgerton was prohibited from possessing guns because he was subject to a protection from abuse order.
When he attempted to purchase a .45 caliber handgun, Edgerton said he was not subject to the order.
