Breast cancer focus of Penquis program

BANGOR- October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Penquis Community Action Program Breast Health Resource Initiative is available to help women in Piscataquis County get the care they deserve.

The objective of the program is to:

. Increase access to breast cancer screenings.

. Pay for screening services for women who qualify.

. Provide education and information to increase awareness of breast health and the importance of family history in determining breast cancer risk.

If you are a woman in Piscataquis County between ages 28 and 64 without health insurance or insurance that doesn’t cover mammograms, call Maria Staples at 973-3586 or Izzy Warren at 564-2847 to see if you qualify.
