Police investigating high school break-in

BELFAST – City police said Tuesday they are investigating a break-in at Belfast Area High School that was discovered early Saturday.

Police Chief Jeffrey Trafton said the break-in was reported by the wife of school principal Butch Arthers at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Windows leading to Arthers’ office and the office of assistant principal Terry Kenniston were pried opened but it appeared nothing was taken from either office. The intruder also pried open the door to Room 218, the computer room, but no equipment was taken, Trafton said Tuesday.

Detective Michael McFadden was assigned the investigation.
