University of Southern Maine runner Nick Wheeler has been named the Little East Conference Runner of the Week. Wheeler covered the 8-kilometer course in 25:44, and finished 58 of 307 at the NEICAAA Championships at Franklin Park in Boston.
University of Southern Maine junior goalie Meghan Ibar has been named the Little East Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Ibar recorded two shutout victories and has not surrendered a goal in three games for the Huskies.
Freshman forward Samantha Mathieu has been named Little East Conference Rookie of the Week. Mathieu registered five points, including in two Southern Maine wins. Mathieu scored two goals, including the game-winner to lead the Huskies past Framingham State and recorded an assist against Plymouth State.
Shelby Pickering of Husson College was named NAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. She had six goals and one assist as Husson won three conference games last week.
Maine Maritime’s Diana Manatt-Rogers earned NAC Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week honors. She scored two goals and added an assist as MMA went 3-0 in conference play last week.
Husson forward KaroleAnne Emery was named NAC Field Hockey Player of the Week. She had four goals in two conference games, both Husson wins.
UMaine-Presque Isle senior striker Travis Parent was selected the Player of the Week for the NCAA DIII Independents schools throughout the United States. Parent scored both game-winning goals for the Owls as they shut out Thomas College and UMaine-Farmington.
