Bring them home safely

To the Bush administration I ask: Exactly why did the Attack on Iraq happen? There were no weapons of mass destruction! 9-11 had nothing to do with Iraq. Where is Osama Bin Laden? And why was this war declared a victory in March 2003?

As a mother of three young boys I sometimes wake at night just to check on them to make sure they are OK. And then I think of other parents who have children in Iraq and other military posts and I wonder, “How do they sleep at night?”

I spend my days trying to teach my children that “hitting hurts,” that fighting doesn’t solve anything, to talk out their feelings and to respect others. I am going to spend the rest of my life trying to teach them this.

Yes, it is a volunteer army, but how could our children possibly know what it is like to be dehumanized and taught to take the life of another? How and if they come home are they to live in a society where “hitting hurts”?

This war is wrong and we owe it to our troops to bring them home safely.
