Wood, Hessert spark Hampden

HAMPDEN – Hampden Academy’s Nellie Wood scored two unanswered goals in the second half after the John Bapst Crusaders were up 1-0 to lead the Broncos to a 2-1 high school field hockey victory Monday.

Katie Hessert had seven saves on eight shots for the 8-4-2 Broncos.

Jessica Stuart scored the lone goal for the 10-4 Crusaders and Hillary Laferriere saved 10 out of 12 shots.

JV: John Bapst 5-0

Dexter 5, Orono 1

At Orono, Denise Robinson recorded a goal and two assists as the Tigers cruised to the win.

Claire Wyman added a goal and an assist for 9-3-2 Dexter, while Jana Kenney, Jordan Conway and Kelsey Lancaster each chipped in with a goal. Olivia Gardner added an assist and Katie Poirier stopped 10 of 12 shots.

Elizabeth Vinal knocked in a goal for the 3-10-1 Red Riots. Chelsea Wagner had an assist and Kristine Kittridge made 12 saves on 18 shots.

JV: Dexter 3-0

Mattanawcook 0, Stearns 0 (2OT)

At Millinocket, the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx of Lincoln battled the Stearns Minutemen to a standstill as neither team could get a shot past the opposing goalie.

Sarah French saved 12 of 19 shots for the 5-5-4 Lynx.

Deanna Michaud had six saves on eight shots for the 11-1-2 Minutemen and notched her fifth shutout this season.

JV: Stearns 3-0

Nokomis 2, Old Town 2 (2OT)

At Newport, Nokomis and Old Town played to a 2-2 tie through two overtimes.

Sabrina Vaillancourt and Lauren Lancaster each scored a goal for the 4-7-2 Warriors. Allison Berg and Erin Knight tallied an assist apiece and Beth Flanders recorded five saves on seven shots.

Lindsay St. Louis and Sarah Wilcox each tallied a goal for the 2-10-2 Coyotes. Heather Nye had nine saves on 11 shots.

JV: Nokomis 1-0

DI-Stonington 3, Katahdin 2

At Deer Isle, Eben Powers scored the game-winning goal with 14 minutes remaining to lift Deer Isle-Stonington past Katahdin of Stacyville.

Collin Ciomei scored two goals, including the game-tying goal with 48 seconds left in the first half, for the 7-2-3 Mariners. Bryant Ciomei and Shane Eaton each tallied an assist and Rob Brown made 17 saves on 20 shots.

Marshall Davis netted two goals for the 6-5-1 Cougars. Matt Tarr recorded 20 saves on 24 shots.

Greenville 1, Shead 1 (2OT)

At Greenville, John Richards scored off a Will Wheelock pass with 3:59 left in regulation as Greenville tied Shead of Eastport.

Chris Newman gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead earlier in the half. Nick Vincent had 11 saves on 29 shots for Shead.

Tim Post stopped 17 of 35 shots for the Lakers.

Dexter 3, Orono 3 (2OT)

At Dexter, Aaron Woodman scored two goals in the final 11 minutes of the game as Dexter tied Orono through two overtimes.

Woodman also recorded an assist. Devon Grant chipped in with a goal and Ethan Woodman added an assist for the 8-2-3 Tigers. Chris Eastman made eight saves on 19 shots.

Chris McConnon netted two goals for the 10-1-2 Red Riots. Lee Hecker scored on a Hosain Aghamoosa assist and Nate Peterson made seven saves on 17 shots.

Girls soccer

Greenville 4, Shead 1

At Greenville, Kaitlin Harmon recorded her first goal of the season to help the Lakers top the Tigerettes.

Hannah Breton scored twice and Saige Weeks added a goal for 10-2 Greenville. McKenna Peat and Kelsey Erickson each contributed an assist and Lauren Fling made three saves on six shots.

Whitney Remington scored for 4-7-1 Shead of Eastport and Dorothy Pottle stopped nine of 27 shots.

John Bapst 6, Foxcroft 1

At Dover-Foxcroft, Abby Perkins and Whitney Sinclair each netted two goals to lead John Bapst of Bangor to the victory.

Maggie Kane and Kristen Willard added a goal apiece for the 6-5-1 Crusaders. Caroline Cassling and Amber Estes combined for 11 saves on 12 shots.

Julia Kurzius scored for the 4-6-3 Ponies and Sarah Whittemore saved six out of 15 shots.

Orono 4, Central 0

At Orono, Wesley Osterhout scored two goals as Orono blanked Central of Corinth.

Lauren Wheeler and Heather Woodbrey each tallied a goal and an assist for the 8-3-2 Red Riots. Brittney Pinkham made five saves on 11 shots.

Jessica Daniel recorded 14 saves on 21 shots for the 2-10-1 Red Devils.

Piscataquis 1, Schenck 0

At Guilford, Christine Davis scored unassisted with 2:10 left in regulation to lift Piscataquis past Schenck of East Millinocket.

Jill Martell stopped all eight shots she faced for the 7-2-4 Pirates.

Toni Thompson had 18 saves on 19 shots for the 1-11-1 Wolverines.
