Lavertu, Nadeau help Madawaska top Calais Presque Isle, Fort Kent boys record shutouts

CALAIS – Susan Lavertu netted two goals as the Madawaska girls soccer team earned a pointworthy 3-0 victory over Calais Saturday in high school action.

Ashley D. Cyr added a goal for the 8-3-1 Owls. Stephanie Nadeau stopped all eight shots.

Stephanie Perry made 10 saves on 16 shots for the 8-4-1 Blue Devils.

Presque Isle 6, MDI 2

At Bar Harbor, Sarah Porter scored two goals and assisted on two others to push Presque Isle past Mount Desert Island.

Angela Norsworthy scored twice for the 11-1 Wildcats as Sarah Gonisioroski and Kayla Legassie added goals. Molly Hamel stopped three of nine shots.

Ashley Young and Danielle Hutchins scored for the 1-10 Trojans. Bridgette Pratt made 10 saves on 18 shots.

Fort Kent 4, Penquis 1

At Milo, Nicole Chasse scored two goals and assisted on another as the Warriors picked up the victory.

Kacey Pelletier had a goal and an assist for 9-3-1 Fort Kent and Marissa Albert added a goal. Kelsie Bouchard blocked six of seven shots.

Shelisha Clark scored on a direct kick in the first half for the 0-12 Patriots. Erica Lyford made 25 saves on 31 shots.

Hodgdon 2, Katahdin 1

At Hodgdon, Brianne McGary and Sara Brewer scored unassisted second-half goals to lead Hodgdon past Katahdin of Stacyville.

Heather London stopped 13 of 19 shots for 7-5 Hodgdon.

Ronnie Robinson scored an unassisted goal with 6:30 left in the second half for 3-7-2 Katahdin. Kayla Stevens blocked 13 of 21 shots.

John Bapst 4, Caribou 0

At Bangor, Whitney Sinclair collected three goals to lead John Bapst to the win.

Kristen Willard added a goal while Torri Gibson tallied an assist. Caroline Cassling and Sam Maquillan combined to make three saves on four shots for the 5-5-1 Crusaders.

Brittany Doak made 11 saves on 19 shots for 2-9-1 Caribou.

Lee 12, Southern Aroostook 1

At Lee Friday, Amanda Gifford racked up four goals while Aarika Ritchie and Kimmy Thurlow each chipped in with three as the Pandas rolled to the win.

Brooke Harris and Morgan McGaw each contributed a goal for 9-2 Lee and Karin Bird made five saves on seven shots.

Kaylea Collier scored for the 10-2 Warriors of Dyer Brook and Emily Cummings made nine saves on 30 shots.

Winslow 3, Medomak Valley 0

At Winslow, Brynne Davis stopped seven of 11 shots as the Black Raiders shut out the Panthers.

Winslow’s Liz Cheesman scored twice and Jordyn Mallett added a goal. Jill Smith and Katie Caron each had an assist.

Rachel Keefe and Alison Cornforth combined for nine saves on 15 shots.

Monmouth 1, Carrabec 0

At Monmouth, Jenn Lola’s score with three minutes left in the first half propelled the Mustangs past the Cobras of North Anson.

Lola scored on a breakaway down the middle off a through ball from Katie Woodman. Brittany Rac made six saves on nine shots for 8-3-1 Monmouth.

Ashley Zikorus stopped 11 of 25 shots for 1-10-1 Carrabec.

Greenville 3, Vinalhaven 1

At Greenville, Hannah Breton, McKenna Peat and Brittany Boucher each scored a goal to lift the Lakers.

Addie Pelletier and Breton each recorded an assist for Greenville. Lauren Fling made three saves on 11 shots for the 9-2 Lakers.

Kate Hamilton netted a goal for Vinalhaven off a pass from Chelsea Guptill. Dana-Marie Wentworth made 17 saves on 34 shots for the 4-8 Vikings.

Bucksport 1, George Stevens 0

At Bucksport, Cassie Gourley’s game-winner with just 1:08 left in regulation boosted the 9-1-2 Golden Bucks to a Heal point-worthy win over the 9-2-2 Eagles of Blue Hill.

Katie Hurd picked up her ninth shutout of the season. She stopped five of 11 shots, including a George Stevens penalty kick. Another GSA penalty kick went wide.

Kayla Eaton made four saves on seven Bucksport shots.

Bangor Christian 5, Searsport 1

At Searsport, Morgan Chasse registered four goals as the undefeated Patriots cruised.

Katherine Bragg added a goal for 12-0 Bangor Christian. Chelsey Brasslet, Kelly Robinson and Christin Pelletier each chipped in with an assist and Moriah Bach made 17 saves on 19 shots.

Brittani Frisbie scored for the 5-7 Vikings and Amanda Cheney stopped 15 of 27 shots.

Nokomis 0, Old Town 0 (2OT)

At Old Town, Laura Lyford made 11 saves for Nokomis and Nicole Guay made 14 saves for Old Town as the Warriors and the Coyotes battled to a tie.

Old Town had a disallowed goal with five minutes left in the game due to an offside.

Lyford faced 15 shots for 1-8-4 Nokomis while Guay faced 19 shots for 0-12-1 Old Town.

JV: Nokomis 11-0

Bangor 0, Hampden 0 (2OT)

At Hampden, the Rams and the Broncos failed to score through regulation and two overtimes, putting a halt to Bangor’s perfect record.

Tawnya Godinez blocked three of seven shots for 12-0-1 Bangor.

Michelle Wells turned away four of nine shots for 7-5-1 Hampden.

Boys soccer

Presque Isle 1, MDI 0

At Mount Desert, Luke Ireland scored the game-winner with 1:09 remaining to propel Presque Isle by Mount Desert Island.

Adam Kingsbury made two saves on five shots for the 10-1-1 Wildcats.

John Joseph made 12 saves on 16 shots for the 7-5-0 Trojans.

Fort Kent 2, Penquis 0

At Milo, Derek Bonenfant scored two goals as Fort Kent shut out Penquis.

Drew Blier recorded an assist for the 6-4-2 Warriors. Matt Harvey made five saves on eight shots for Fort Kent.

Brian Zwicker made 15 saves on 27 shots for the 0-13 Patriots.

John Bapst 3, Caribou 1

At Bangor, Nick Hubbard had a goal and an assist to lead John Bapst to victory.

Ian Bamford and Jordan Myers scored for the 10-2 Crusaders. Petter Lundquist provided an assist as Jeff Sanford blocked seven of 13 shots.

Kyle Corrigan scored a first-half goal for 7-4 Caribou. Chad McCarthy turned away 12 of 29 shots.

Brewer 3, Lawrence 0

At Brewer, Andrew Richardson scored two goals to lead Brewer to victory.

Alex Chapman added a goal while Prentiss Swett, Shun Sasaki and Marc Relford each tallied an assist for Brewer. Chris Brady made four saves on eight shots for the 8-4-1 Witches.

Max Haney made 10 saves on 23 shots for the 3-8 Bulldogs.

Dexter 2, DI-Stonington 2 (2OT)

At Deer Isle, Jake Adams scored the second goal for Deer Isle-Stonington 10 minutes into the second half as the Mariners battled to a 2-2 tie with Dexter through two overtimes.

Bryant Ciomei started scoring with a goal in the first half on a pass from Shane Eaton. Chris Eastman stopped 13 of 15 shots for the 6-2-3 Mariners.

Ethan Woodman and Dan Beatham each scored a first-half goal while Aaron Woodman grabbed an assist for Dexter. Rob Brown made 18 saves on 20 shots for the 8-2-2 Tigers.

Vinalhaven 3, Greenville 2

At Greenville, Oakley Jackson scored two goals in the second half to lead Vinalhaven by Greenville.

Willie Drury added a second half goal while Andrew Guptil and Sam Cose each grabbed an assist. Nathan Hopkins made 15 saves on 31 shots for the 6-4 Vikings.

Ritchie Chilson and T.J. St. Louis each scored a goal for Greenville. Corey Woodbury recorded two assists. Tim Post made 19 saves on 41 shots for the 4-6 Lakers.

Bangor Christian 6, Searsport 3

At Searsport, Brett Bradford and Wontaek Oh each scored two goals to lead Bangor Christian by Searsport.

Phil Dougherty and Brandon Wilcox each added a goal. Sam McCloud made 10 saves on 16 shots for the 6-5-1 Patriots.

Evan Kingsbury, Chris Gillo and Eddy Benner each netted a goal for Searsport. Daniel Peach stopped 13 of 18 shots for the 1-11 Vikings.
