Achorn’s score in overtime lifts Stearns to win

DEXTER – Felicia Achorn netted the game-winning goal with 2:26 remaining in overtime to lift Stearns to a 2-1 high school field hockey victory over Dexter on Friday.

Amy Collinsworth scored the first goal for Stearns in the second half. Deanna Michaud stopped 16 of 20 shots for the 11-1-1 Minutemen.

Jana Kenney tallied the tying goal for Dexter with 1:26 remaining in the game. Katie Poirier made four saves on six shots for the 8-3-2 Tigers.

JV: 0-0

Orono 2, Brewer 1

At Orono, Elizabeth Vinal and Chelsea Wagner scored a goal apiece to pace Orono past Brewer.

Maridawn Lamb tallied an assist and Kristine Kittridge made 10 saves on 15 shots for the 3-9-1 Red Riots.

Brittany Albert notched a goal for the 0-11-3 Witches. Angela Patterson and Sarah Estes combined to make 13 saves on 16 shots.

JV: Orono 1-0

John Bapst 7, Old Town 2

At Bangor, Christina Andrle scored three goals and had two assists as John Bapst rolled past Old Town.

Megan Tilton tallied two goals and Caroline Openshaw added a goal and two assists. Allison Krause chipped in a goal, Rebecca Ogden notched two assists and Lauren Daigle had an assist for the 9-3 Crusaders. Hillary Laferriere made 12 saves on 15 shots.

Sarah Wilcox scored two goals and Heather Nye made 10 saves on 17 shots for the 2-9-1 Coyotes.

JV: John Bapst 5-0

Belfast 6, MCI 0

At Pittsfield, Jill Ross scored two goals and assisted on another as Belfast shutout Maine Central Institute.

Kallie Aldus and Britt Cummings each tallied a goal and an assist, and Sky Ellis and Helen Berry chipped in a goal apiece. Brooke Reid, Bri Curry and Ori Downs each had an assist for the 13-0 Lions. Liz Anderson saved all five shots she faced.

Courtney Howe made 12 saves on 18 shots for the 1-12 Huskies.

JV: Belfast 2-0

Boys soccer

Ashland 3, Katahdin 2

At Stacyville, Carl Nemer scored twice in the second half to rally Ashland to its win over Katahdin.

Nemer tied the game with 22 minutes remaining and won it seven minutes later by slipping the ball past Katahdin goalie Jared Anderson during a goal-mouth scramble.

Jeremy Tarr scored the game-opening goal for 8-1-2 Ashland and Kevin Baker finished with nine saves on 14 shots.

Andy Kay had a goal and an assist for 7-4-1 Katahdin and Marshall Davis had the other goal. Anderson wound up with six saves on 12 shots.

Calais 4, Machias 1

At Machias, Corey Johnston netted two goals as the Blue Devils moved to 12-0.

John Deacon and John Gillespie each tallied a goal for Calais. Scott Geel made nine saves on 11 shots.

Raymond Smith netted the lone goal for the 4-8 Bulldogs. Michael Jenkins and Noah Prescott combined to make seven saves on 11 shots.

Camden Hills 2, Mount View 1

At Thorndike, Noah Burke scored two goals as Camden Hills held off Mount View for the win.

Thomas Sommo made 16 saves on 31 shots for the 6-5-1 Windjammers.

John King scored on a pass from Justin Pierel for the 5-5-3 Mustangs. Ross Caron had 21 saves on 24 shots.

JV: Mount View 1-0

Old Town 3, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Dillon Clark scored two goals to lead Coyotes past the Warriors.

Evan Paradis had a goal and Josh Hesseltine had two assists for 6-5-2 Old Town. Sam Petrie stopped all eight Warrior shots.

Wayne May made 11 saves on 15 shots for 1-12 Nokomis.

Houlton 2, Schenck 1

At Houlton, Jordan Gard scored two goals to power Houlton past Schenck.

Eben Thompson made 10 saves on 11 shots for the 5-7 Shiretowners.

Kerry Thompson netted a goal for the 4-8-1 Wolverines of East Millinocket. Lanny Thompson recorded 10 saves on 12 shots.

Girls soccer

Greenville 8, Vinalhaven 0

At Greenville, Hannah Breton put in six goals, including the 100th and 101st of her career, as the Lakers rolled over the Vikings.

McKenna Peat added a goal and an assist for Greenville and Saige Weeks also scored a goal. Lauren Fling stopped three of 13 shots.

Dana-Marie Wentworth made 13 saves on 33 shots for Vinalhaven.

Narraguagus 0, Shead 0 (2OT)

At Harrington, the Knights and the Tigerettes played to a scoreless tie through two overtimes.

Samantha Baker made five saves on six shots for 1-4-4 Narraguagus. Dorothy Pottle recorded nine saves on 15 shots for 5-5-1 Shead of Eastport.

Dexter 0, Orono 0 (2OT)

At Orono, Alexis Mitchell of Dexter made eight saves and Brittney Pinkham of Orono had four saves as the Tigers and the Red Riots dueled to a 0-0 tie through two overtimes.

Mitchell faced 18 shots for 5-2-1 Dexter while Pinkham faced nine shots for 7-3-2 Orono.

Houlton 6, Schenck 0

At Houlton, six different players each scored a goal as the Shiretowners shut out the Wolverines of East Millinocket.

Liz Herring, Mallory McPartland, Brittany Guiod, Emily Bartlett, Keegan Hovey and Amelia Butler each netted a goal. Hovey also recorded an assist and Bethany Targonski made four saves on eight shots.

Trisha Hobbs made 11 saves on 24 shots for Schenck.

Camden Hills 1, Mount View 0

At Rockport, Kayla Gushee’s goal off an Erika Johnson assist provided the winning margin for the Windjammers.

Kerry Gross made eight save on 10 shots for 6-7 Camden Hills.

Andrea Bryant had 10 saves on 14 shots for the 6-5-1 Mustangs of Thorndike.

JV: Camden Hills 4-1

Ellsworth 4, Hermon 0

At Ellsworth, Maggie Harding and Emily Miller each tallied a goal and an assist to power the Eagles.

Emily Lyons and Jen Richter each added a goal for 11-0-1 Ellsworth while Casey Wyman had an assist. Catie Cravens stopped both shots she faced.

Megan Herbert made 11 saves on 20 shots for the 1-10-1 Hawks.

JV: Ellsworth 7-1
