MACHIAS – The Washington County Drug Action Team is sponsoring a one-day workshop on transitional housing at two locations next week.

The first will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Carte Catering Banquet Room in Machias. The second will be held at the same time on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Marine Technical School in Eastport.

The morning session of the workshop will focus on a presentation by Kathy Miller of the Lighthouse Corp. covering topics on the models now operating in Maine.

The breakout sessions in the afternoon will focus on four basic topics: funding issues, starting up a transitional house, case management and working the steps.

Registration is free and the public is invited to participate. Lunch is offered both days for $8 a person.
