Celebrity autographs to be auctioned Oct. 7

ELLSWORTH – What are David Ortiz, Mia Hamm, Curt Schilling, Bruce Springsteen, Peyton Manning and Carl Yastrzemski all doing to help seniors and people with disabilities live more safely?

Their autographs will help to raise money Saturday, Oct. 7, for the Washington Hancock Community Agency’s second annual auction to benefit the Fall Free Program.

Administered by WHCA’s Housing Services Division, the Fall Free Program is designed to address safety issues in the homes of the elderly

Among older adults, falls in and around the home are the most common cause of injuries and hospital admissions.

The funds from the Fall Free Auction will enable WHCA’s housing division to make necessary safety modifications to such areas as ramps, flooring, stairs, railings, walkways and bathrooms.

The doors open at noon and the auction begins at 1 p.m. at the Downeast Family YMCA in Ellsworth.

For more information, contact WHCA human resources director Pat Smith at 546-7544, ext. 3336, or psmith@whcacap.org.
