Free high school bowling
BANGOR – A free high school bowling league will start its new season 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Family Fun Bowling Center, 15 Hildreth St.
Practice is held Tuesdays, and matches are on Thursdays. For information, call Andy at 942-6701.
Learn to Skate and Learn to Play
BREWER – Register for Brewer Youth Hockey’s Learn-to-Skate and Learn-to-Play program on Sunday, Oct. 29, at the T.J. Ryan Center, 90 Acme Road. Preregistered and nonregistered skaters need to check in from 9 to 10 a.m. Ice hockey jerseys, name tags and information sheets will be issued. Equipment also will be inspected.
The on-ice practice will take place 10:20-11:50 a.m. For information, call Roy Boothby at 989-2507.
Coaches must be registered with USA Hockey and attend a Level 1 coaches clinic to be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, at Brewer High School. Register as a coach and for the coaches’ clinic at www.usahockey.com.
Glenburn basketball and cheering
GLENBURN – Registration for Glenburn Rec basketball and peewee cheering is coming soon.
. Kindergarten through grade six basketball registration will be held 6:30-8 p.m. Oct. 16 and 18 at the town office.
. Grades three to five cheering registration will be held 6:30-8 p.m. Oct. 16 and 18 at the town office.
Anyone interested in coaching a team needs to apply by Oct. 18 by coming to registration or calling Carey Besse at 945-3119. All teams need at least one volunteer, preferably two.
Ski club meeting and dinner
HAMPDEN – The Penobscot Valley Ski Club will hold a meeting and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the Hampden Kiwanis Club Civic Center. After a discussion of the upcoming ski sale, a spaghetti dinner will be served. A speaker will give a slide presentation about the history of climbing Mount Katahdin. Those interested in becoming members of ski club are invited to attend. For information, call 942-8076.
