STOCKTON SPRINGS – The Waldo County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday it is investigating a tire-slashing spree that occurred overnight Monday.
Chief Deputy Robert Keating said 17 people reported awakening Tuesday morning to find their tires cut.
There were eight reports from Cape Jellison, three from School Street, two from Main Street, one each on Maple Street, Middle Street, Station Street and Searsport Avenue. In most cases all four tires were slashed. One victim reported that all four tires were slashed on both of the family’s cars.
“We’re talking thousands of dollars in damage,” Keating said.
Detective Greg Stearns and Deputy Jason Bosco are handling the investigation.
