Sullivan’s goal helps Tigers sink Bulldogs

EASTPORT – Aaron Sullivan scored an unassisted goal with 2:57 left in the first half to lift the Shead Tigers to a 1-0 high school boys soccer win over the Machias Bulldogs Tuesday.

Craig Hastings made seven saves on nine shots for the 6-4 Tigers.

Michael Jenkins stopped six out of 12 shots for the 5-5 Bulldogs.

MDI 4, Bucksport 2

At Mount Desert, Tarek Dekkaki netted two goals and Ben Young notched a goal and two assists to lead MDI past Bucksport.

Naniel Hilliard added a goal and Nat Paine recorded two assists for the 7-3 Trojans. John Joseph made one save on five shots.

Teddy Cooke scored two goals for the 3-8 Golden Bucks. Miles Bisher had 20 saves on 33 shots.

Bangor Chr. 0, DI-Stonington 0

At Bangor, Bangor Christian and Deer Isle-Stonington battle to a scoreless tie in two overtimes.

Sam McLeod made 20 saves on 36 shots for the 5-5-1 Patriots.

Rob Brown recorded 21 saves on 32 shots for the 5-2-2 Mariners.

Jonesport-Beals 1, East Grand 0

At Danforth, James Kelley scored a goal in the first half as Jonesport-Beals held on for the win.

Sid Look made 16 saves on 20 shots for the 1-7-1 Royals.

Abe Brittain and Rick Parks combined to make 12 saves on 13 shots for the 1-6 Vikings.

Hampden 10, Nokomis 1

At Newport, Harvey Shue tallied four goals as Hampden cruised past Nokomis .

Brad Haase and John D’Haiti each scored two goals while Josh Groleau and Aaron Gilio each added one for Hampden. Cam Cox made six saves on 10 shots for the Broncos.

Jordan Richards scored for Nokomis off an assist from Cody Johndro. Wayne May made 14 saves on 22 shots for the Warriors.

Katahdin 2, Lee 0

At Staceyville, Andy Kay netted both goals to lead Katahdin by Lee Academy.

Billy Duffy and Caleb Gallagher each recorded an assist for Katahdin. Matt Tarr stopped five of seven shots for the 7-3-0 Cougars.

Jonathan Conniele made nine saves on 12 shots for the 6-3-2 Pandas.

PVHS 4, Schenck 1

At Howland, Ryan Ware netted three goals and grabbed an assist in the first half to lead Penobscot Valley to victory over Schenck.

Brandon Vainio tallied a goal and an assist while Corey Soucy added an assist. Brian Harris stopped seven on eight shots for the 6-2-3 Howlers.

Kerry Thompson scored for Schenck off a pass from Steve Deveau. Lanny Thompson made seven saves on 19 shots for the 3-7 Wolverines.

PCHS 4, Foxcroft Acad. 0

At Guilford, Brandon London scored two goals to lead Piscataquis by Foxcroft Academy.

Roy Burdin and Andy Zimmerman each added a goal. Corbin Shufelt made three saves on four shots for the 8-4-1 Pirates.

Evan Bridges made one save on eight shots for the 1-10 Poines.

Ashland 5, Fort Fairfield 1

At Fort Fairfield, Carl Nemer scored two goals and grabbed an assist to lead Ashland to victory over Fort Fairfield.

Tyler Cote, Isaac Ward and Jacob Paradis each added a goal for Ashland. Kevin Baker stopped nine of 10 shots for the 9-1-2 Hornets.

Josh Booth scored the unassisted goal for Fort Fairfield. Andrew Foresman made eight saves on 13 shots for the 3-9 Tigers.

Girls soccer

Schenck 8, DI-Stonington 0

At East Millinocket, Samantha York and Amber Lanzara each netted a pair of goals as Schenck shut out Deer-Isle Stonington.

Courtney MacLeod, Kristen Nicholson, Angelica Deloge and Traci Waite each added a goal for the winners. Toni Thompson and Leanne Toothacher combined to make two saves on three shots for the Wolverines.

Anika Powers made 14 saves on 31 shots for the Mariners.

Hampden 1, Nokomis 0

At Hampden, Anna Kalliola scored on a Lindsay Martin assist to lift Hampden over Nokomis of Newport.

Michelle Wells made three saves on four shots for her seventh shutout of the season for the 7-5 Broncos.

Laura Lyford made 11 saves on 22 shots for the 1-8-3 Warriors.

Brewer 4, Old Town 0

At Brewer, Leah Jackson, Elizabeth Cote, Meghan Martin and Jordan McLain each scored a goal to lead Brewer by Old Town.

Carolyn Tuck and Katie Kenney combined to make eight saves on 10 shots for the 3-7-2 Witches.

Nicole Guay stopped 22 of 26 shots for the 0-11 Coyotes.

Highview Christian 5, Averill 2

At Hinckley, Michala Rowe and Jade Philbrick each scored tow goals to lead Highview Christian Academy by Averill.

Courtney Chandler added a goal for the winners. Jana Philbrick made four saves on eight shots for the 3-4 Knights.

Gypsy Carron and Dorothy Leighton each scored a goal. Tiffany Cookson made 17 saves on 39 shots for 0-7 Averill.

Dexter 4, Central 2

At Corinth, Alexis Mitchell scored two goals as Dexter held off Central.

Sarah Domenech and Kylie Keene each had a goal for the 5-5-1 Tigers. Becky Domenech tallied an assist and Ashley Richardson had 10 saves on 20 shots.

Emily Blackwell netted two goals for the 1-10 Red Devils. Jessica Daniel had six saves on 14 shots.

Monmouth 5, Madison 0

At Monmouth, Jenn Lola notched two goals to lead Monmouth to the win over Madison.

Suzi Chick, Darcy Cote and Brittany Hilton added a goal apiece for the Mustangs. Alyssa Morin had 10 saves on 12 shots.

Brittney Litchtenfels stopped eight of 16 shots for the Bulldogs.

Field hockey

Belfast 3, Leavitt 0

At Turner, Liz Anderson stopped all seven shots she faced in goal to lead undefeated Belfast past Leavitt.

Brooke Reed, Kallie Aldus and Skye Ellis scored for the 12-0 Lions with Jill Ross, Britt Cummings and Steph Whittier getting assists.

Kristen Capen saved 11 out of 14 shots for 8-3-1 Leavitt.

Hampden 3, Old Town 2

At Old Town, Shaina Dennis scored three goals as Hampden held off Old Town.

Katie Hessert made 12 saves on 14 shots for the 6-4-2 Broncos.

Sarah Wilcox and Lindsay St. Louis had a goal apiece for 1-8-1 Old Town. Heather Nye stopped 10 of 13 shots.

JV: Hampden 8-1

Camden Hills 3, Erskine 2 (2OT)

At South China, Laura Schelble scored the game-winning goal on a pass from Amanda Kavawith 6:31 remaining to lift Camden Hills to the win.

Megan Bauer scored two goals and Schelble assisted on another for the 8-4 Windjammers. Dale Winsper recorded eight saves on 10 shots.

Brittany Newman and Diana Derocher each scored a goal for the 3-9 Eagles. Mary Middleton made 20 saves on 23 shots.

JV: Erskine 3-0
