I pose this query to the motley anti-war, bring-our-troops home group that takes up space on the bridge in Blue Hill every Sunday.
Why weren’t you up at the American Legion hall in Blue Hill expressing your gratitude to Marine Cpl. Brian Smith Jr. who just arrived home from Iraq? There certainly were enough banners and notices around the area inviting everyone to join the Legion on Sunday in welcoming him home.
Cpl. Smith put his life on the line for his country and sustained a near-fatal injury while doing so. This injury is both painful and will take a long time to heal. It will not heal completely.
This was a perfect time to show your sincerity for your cause. Instead, you were on the bridge telling anyone who would listen that you were against the war but support our troops.
