News in brief GREENVILLE: TOWN MANAGER SUMMONED FOR ASSAULT

Greenville Town Manager John Simko has been summoned to court for allegedly assaulting his estranged wife in a “tussle” over a cellular telephone on Sept. 24 at the Greenville Business Incubator on Spruce Street. The couple have filed for a divorce. Deputy Jamie Kane of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department said the pair argued, “tussled” over a cellular telephone and then ended up on the ground. The Piscataquis County district attorney is reviewing the case. Simko’s initial court appearance is set for Nov. 6 in 13th District Court in Dover-Foxcroft.

Correction: Erroneous information was provided by the court for a brief published on Wednesday’s local and regional page about an assault charge filed against John Simko. Simko’s divorce has been finalized.
